Considering the amount of bolts that come through the tub above the seat, they are quite comfortable to sit on, but I suggest having the canopy frame up would make a passenger feel a lot more secure.

Battery Hold Down

Can anyone explain/show how the battery was held down inside the battery box? I assume the half countersunk blocks in the bottom held a bracket of some kind?

And while I am here, was there a standard colour for the Jack, starter handle etc? I have seen them in green, black, and a grey/blue?
Thanks Guys
Rich.

I have only ever seen black jacks and green starting handles as originally supplied. They tended to get tarted up from time to time and then anything is possible. Also some of the larger (5ton+) jacks were grey from new and others quite a bright green. The 35ton jacks all seem to be DBG. Pick heads were black as was the metal part of the handle. Certainly some shovels were black with natural wood handles but I have also seen them apparently green all over from new.

Hi Rich,

Attached is a scan from the User Handbook 12515 which just states, "..two bolts and nuts securing each battery in its container."

Regards Rick.

Thanks David, I will go with the black Jack & Handle parts, same for the wheel nut tool/Tommy Bar and green for the starting handle. Black will make a change from all that green.

Rick, thanks for the reply, I do have all that info, what I don't have is any idea of what the bits look like, or the method they are used. However, I think I have been looking at it the wrong way. I assumed the battery was held down with a bracket on top, but assuming that the battery used was one of those aluminium cased jobbies, there was possibly a hold down point on the bottom which locked into the countersunk block with the parts on the list. (For the record, these blocks are not threaded UNF, but UNC.) If this is so, I will have to do a mod for modern batteries.
Regards
Rich.
