I have a few items up at the moment too:
Boots These are the rubber boots which go both on the handbrake cables of the F15 and F15A, they also fit the winch handbrake on the FGT, on the handle end. http://img.iwascoding.com/2/2011/12/...07F93FC94A.jpg I also have a MB-C1 listed, Here And a nice looking but incomplete MB-C2: here. There are a couple of NOS engine items, an oil breather to suit cab 12 and a crankshaft dog. Just check the other items. |

Ebay finds
Though I have posted a couple of 'finds' on this thread in the now distant past, I have slowly been changing attitude & been questioning why we actually give advertising to items from people with no connection to MLU. If there are pieces that someone particularly want, they will already be searching (and finding) these. Wouldn't this thread potentially punish people who have put in the work and bid discretely, while assisting those not wishing to do the searching themselves.
Of course, this view of mine is obviously VERY one sided, due to number of times that I have found, bid and then something skyrocket in price and interest, in the hours since posting of details here. I suspect I would not be the only one this has happened to, including the subsequent cursing following auction close. :bang: I expect this post will result in replies along the lines of 'for the benefit of all' but I really don't see it that way, sorry. If you're keen you will be finding for yourself, no? If an item is from or has relation to a MLU member, that's different. Then it's fair promotion and opportunity for Q&A. This post will be unpopular, I know, but this is how it seems to me. Guys & Girls.....I calls it like I sees it! :cheers: |

Well put! I take your point, and it makes good sense. Guess my 'Darwinian' approach seems rather selfish? I never considered asking others not to bid. Wouldn't really feel comfortable doing that as such, but also wouldn't think less of someone, or stand in the way of anyone else that did make the request. I guess it's an option if something was REALLY badly wanted. I'm only speaking for myself of course, but I know if I found something that I wanted and it was currently very low in price, with no other attention, I gotta say I would keep my mouth tightly shut until won.......then squawk like mad! :yappy: I got a nearly mint Ford Service Bulletin Manual for $45, that way. It would be daft to broadcast something you are bidding on with view to winning! My perspective was simply based on principal that there will always be someone hoping for the 'cheap' buy, though they may not identify themselves in the forum as such. The whole thing is really a moot point anyway I suppose. Will no doubt be plenty of other web-sites posting ebay stuff. With that in mind, better to go to someone from MLU than elsewhere :devil: |
I have mixed feelings on this.
I would tend to keep quiet if I were interested, until the bids go above what I'm willing to spend, then tell others so they can bid if they want to spend more than I am willing to go. This might help someone to find something they would have otherwise have missed. It might also mean that a big spender knocks someone else out of the bidding. I don't think there is a "right" answer to this one. |
There are many reasons why MLU'ers take the trouble to post here, the fact that this is post #547 shows the popularity of the thread. It is symbolic of the sharing nature of this forum. Although there is no way I would post an item I was bidding on, I have done so for items that may have been of interest to others.

There are a couple of things I notice about this rather derelict cab 12 which are highly unusual. I wonder if you can guess what they are.

Five things I have noticed are:-
1. It has a Chev patten Diamond pressed lower grill instead of a square mesh Ford lower grill. 2. The fuel tank is on the wrong side. The filler should be up at the cab. 3. The waterbag carrier on the left hand door.(or where it was by the marks.) 4. The headlight buckets look to be savable. & 5. The engine covers may be with it. There is something on the back between the chassis rails behind the cab. These are really hard to find.( Anyone got a set out there? I need them for both my cab 11 and cab 12 Fords.) |

All in all it wouldn't be too bad a Blitz to restore. Thanks Keith for the challenge. Seems there are a few out there who now know a bit more about Cab 12 Ford Blitz's. |
