I have a few items up at the moment too:

Boots
These are the rubber boots which go both on the handbrake cables of the F15 and F15A, they also fit the winch handbrake on the FGT, on the handle end.

Though I have posted a couple of 'finds' on this thread in the now distant past, I have slowly been changing attitude & been questioning why we actually give advertising to items from people with no connection to MLU. If there are pieces that someone particularly want, they will already be searching (and finding) these. Wouldn't this thread potentially punish people who have put in the work and bid discretely, while assisting those not wishing to do the searching themselves.

Of course, this view of mine is obviously VERY one sided, due to number of times that I have found, bid and then something skyrocket in price and interest, in the hours since posting of details here. I suspect I would not be the only one this has happened to, including the subsequent cursing following auction close. :bang:

I expect this post will result in replies along the lines of 'for the benefit of all' but I really don't see it that way, sorry. If you're keen you will be finding for yourself, no?

If an item is from or has relation to a MLU member, that's different. Then it's fair promotion and opportunity for Q&A.

This post will be unpopular, I know, but this is how it seems to me.

Mate... if everyone had the same opinion it would be a very boring world, and I don't think there is any member here who will bag you for expressing yours at any time, on any subject.
But I disagree. What has happened in the past (although I have not seen it happen for a while now), is the person finding the epay item will say "I want this" as a way of letting other members know that it would be appreciated if there were no competing bids...
I personally have come across items posted here by Ryan that I have missed during my infrequent searches of epay, so, personally, I like this thread.

I take your point, and it makes good sense. Guess my 'Darwinian' approach seems rather selfish?

I never considered asking others not to bid. Wouldn't really feel comfortable doing that as such, but also wouldn't think less of someone, or stand in the way of anyone else that did make the request. I guess it's an option if something was REALLY badly wanted.

I'm only speaking for myself of course, but I know if I found something that I wanted and it was currently very low in price, with no other attention, I gotta say I would keep my mouth tightly shut until won.......then squawk like mad! :yappy: I got a nearly mint Ford Service Bulletin Manual for $45, that way. It would be daft to broadcast something you are bidding on with view to winning! My perspective was simply based on principal that there will always be someone hoping for the 'cheap' buy, though they may not identify themselves in the forum as such.

The whole thing is really a moot point anyway I suppose. Will no doubt be plenty of other web-sites posting ebay stuff. With that in mind, better to go to someone from MLU than elsewhere :devil:

I have mixed feelings on this.
I would tend to keep quiet if I were interested, until the bids go above what I'm willing to spend, then tell others so they can bid if they want to spend more than I am willing to go. This might help someone to find something they would have otherwise have missed. It might also mean that a big spender knocks someone else out of the bidding.
I don't think there is a "right" answer to this one.

There are many reasons why MLU'ers take the trouble to post here, the fact that this is post #547 shows the popularity of the thread. It is symbolic of the sharing nature of this forum. Although there is no way I would post an item I was bidding on, I have done so for items that may have been of interest to others.

There are a couple of things I notice about this rather derelict cab 12 which are highly unusual. I wonder if you can guess what they are.

It's more to do with items which normally would have deteriorated.

No struts holding the roof or signs of cracks and a water bag cooler holes on the door :thup:

Quite funny what they have written about it being 1937. Considering it has
60l 41 painted on the bonnet return. I think they have done a very poor internet research

Have seen pictures of this one from another spotter only recently :D

Five things I have noticed are:-

1. It has a Chev patten Diamond pressed lower grill instead of a square mesh Ford lower grill.

2. The fuel tank is on the wrong side. The filler should be up at the cab.

3. The waterbag carrier on the left hand door.(or where it was by the marks.)

4. The headlight buckets look to be savable.
&
5. The engine covers may be with it. There is something on the back between the chassis rails behind the cab. These are really hard to find.( Anyone got a set out there? I need them for both my cab 11 and cab 12 Fords.)

The thing I noticed firstly was things that AREN'T missing...
Instrument cluster including Ford script, nudge bar, panel under radiator seems to be there, goosekneck oil filler,
It could be an illusion but it seems to have an F15 rear diff. Still with it's 16's fitted.
Either way looks interesting.
The last thing I saw on epay listed as Lightning Ridge turned out to be in Wagga so I have asked the actual location of this beastie, I hope it is Wagga, too!

The two things that stood out for me were the fact the front of the roof hasn't been braced, and did anyone notice how straight the bumper is?

Hi Keith

Being a Jeep man and not knowing much about CMP vehicles, my knowledge is limited to what I have seen while with Salesman Bob on "Field Trips" but from what some of the guys have said are missing I thouhgt I would put my 2 cents worth in. Shouldn't there be a couple of those towing loop things mounted on the front bumper, though they may be on the old bumper as the one shown looks to new compared to the rest of the truck... :giveup
