I've got a shed in London thats an 8x4 old air raid shelter.

Colin, Just how big is that shed? What access doors do you have. I've just purchased 3 1/2 acres and will be building a new shed there. The existing one on it is 105' x 35' but it is not tall enough to get the Albion No12 Blitz and Leyland into. Like the gantry idea. More info needed on that too.

Might be a good idea to start a thread on boys and their sheds,we must have our sheds its a man thing,not so much as a compertion but just to show where we spend a large part of our lives doing the good things,and the tools and ideas that we have had to come up with to work alone and devise ways of lifting and moving the heavy items around just a thought,might prevent someone busting a gut so to speak,

Hi Rick,
Is there any way that you can raise the side walls
to gain some more height? thats a good size shed that you have it would be a big job but not impossable but well worth it to make it more usable,

Whilst raising the walls might be an option. I really need a bigger shed to house the collection out of the weather, we are a bit too close to the sea here. The new shed will have a pit and a hoist so we can get down and dirty. I am tired of restoring a vehicle in the display shed. So the new one will be the restoration shed and the existing one to display my bits. I'll probably add two bays on the south end ot the existing shed after excavating a bit so the Albion can go under cover.This is 1/2 of the shed.

Hi Rick, I seem to be having a lot of trouble logging on but I have know.
I extended an existing shed so my eave height is not as high as i would like. It is 3mtr at the eave and 5.8 at the ridge.
100'x40' with a 40' overhead x & y directional gantry. I have 3 side enty doors 5mtr x 2.7mtr and a set of Hduty swing doors at my worshop end. 4mtr wide x 4.5mtr high. I also insulated the building with 50mm foilbacked blanket. (i need comfort as i get older). my floor is 160mm thick with 1 layer of f82 mesh. plenty strong enough.
I'll send a couple more pics later. ( wife said Ts ready )

Hi Colin,
Now thats a shed, now you do realise that you have to convince the little woman that its of no use having a big shed like that unless its filled with lots of toys,looks like you will have to get back into border raiding again

Hi Ron, I think I really need a Matilda or even a Valentine to take up some room in there. Which border have you got in mind.
By the way, my wife kept telling me to build a new shed. I'm not sure if she loves to see me enjoy my passion or she knows it will keep me out of the house. Either way she is very very understanding.

Or if you've got a bit of time on your hands, you could just plant a couple of strategically placed gum trees. These are about 30 years old. the land belongs to greenies who don't want the trees hurt so the carrier remains where it was parked. You can spin the road wheels.

The strength of the rear tree has bent the rear armour as it's grown. It has grown through the rectanguler hole in the rear tray and spread the right hand side about 1 1/2 inches.
