Eric, when you asked "is it normal to have this part on a F15A" that's the stopper for the overload springs. I don't think the 15 cwts came out with overloads and they are post-military additions for when farmers wanted to haul grain, etc. I just looked at 8 of my 15 cwts and 5 of them have had the overloads installed. No two have the same stopper setup. A few have stoppers off civilian 2 or 3 tons but most have a home made fabrication. (or should I say fornication?)

Interesting

I had not noticed from the earlier pictures the door modifications has the drivers side door and opening been extensively modified?

As to engine running as there was not a cloud of blue, white, or black smoke and the noises are of a tolerable nature, (no big bangs taps etc.) it looks like the patient will live.

Cheers Phil

Eric,

In haste I cannot read all the details on your plate, but it should be similar to the plate on the body of my F15A.
In my case the manufacturer is "Canadian Top & Body Corp. Ltd. Tilbury Ont. Canada".
The body serial number is 42 03 2C1 7025, denoting year, month, body type, serial number.

Grant Bowker 12-05-09 01:12

Eric's body data plate seems to read:

(missing word, maybe "BODY") MANUFACTURED BY
W.D. BEATH & SON LIMITED
TORONTO, CANADA
SERIAL No. 42 1 2C1 298

The body does look like a 2C1 body, all steel, welded construction.

Hi
your right

NORTH-SHORE(CANADA) 12-05-09 01:44

Hi,
Is 42 the year that they made the box :confused

Grant Bowker 12-05-09 02:27

Using Hanno's decoding information it was made in January 1942. This is a believable date for a 2C1 body. The 2C1 body was one of the earlier bodies for the 15 cwt trucks. I don't have a date for the change in body types but in general the the 2B1 was used on cab 11 and 12 trucks (there are photos of it on the 13 cab as well) the bodies 2C1 2H1, 2J1 were mainly on cab 13 but there are photos of the 2C1 on cab 12 chassis.

I think there was a 2A1 as a prototype or very early production body. I don't know if there were ever 2D1 or any of the other missing body codes. Has anyone ever seen a listing of the body codes? There's some information in the AEDB Design record but it isn't a full listing (or even close).

Yes, Bill Gregg listed the body types in his "Canadian Military Vehicle Profile Series" Vol. 2. Colin Stevens has scanned them and put them on his CMP web page.
