Ok thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't able to really loosen off the elbow bolts due to lack of room from the engine. However I was able to get a pry bar in there and put a lot of force on them untill the manifold bolts grabbed. I then kept prying and turning the bolts in a little at a time. Eventually they did pull in and everything lined up.

So for the next person that goes to install them. Make sure the elbow bolts are new and loose. Im sure its a case of having 2 (engine, elbows) of the 3 parts firmly fastend down. Whereas if I had all 3 parts loose it should go in no problem.

Thanks for checking it today with you other carrier. I am very happy to have them and not have had to go with the flex pipe and clamps. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

Is the problem at the bottom end? Th ppe should be able to movein the bottom casting. It needs to be abe to move in and out freely, as well the pipe needds to be able to rotate somewhat on the ball end of the pipe. If this is not the case, the pipe will break, or worse, something else will. I think a small amout of clearance was part of the design as the fan would clear any gas leakage. The designers weren't as pc back then. I too want these pipes to work

You are right that the engine in Puddle Jumper is a 21 stud, but the down pipes fitted on PJ are for the original 24 stud. So there should be difference between engines .

I really should read what i have posted - YES THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE !!!!!
sorry if that panicked anybody .
