Hi Ed, Do you have any photos for M-152 in the 1967 timeframe?

M152
No, I don't have anything prior to 1975.

I recently found out some more info on my jeep and am awaiting some pics and other details. I contacted the ! Hussars Regimental Museum and was put in contact with guys in the know...
Apparently, my jeep was used as the poster vehcile for the recruiting poster and pamplet in the 1976 to 1980 period. It was also used on a major international ex in the US as well as various exs at CFB Meaford. I am excited to know that there is at least one original pic and that there may be more! How many of us have actual picture documentation of our mvs in service? When I obtain them I will post. |
To add to the confusion, was command assigned a number "9" on the jeep and if so, was any prefix used eg, A9, B9 etc???
This is the bosses jeep (my future wife) so I was thinking a little artistic license may apply but it would be great if appropriate and accurate..... Please advise, standing by. :note: |
Call sign 9 is for the commanding officer, so in this case it would be fully appropriate.
ie:Q: Are you coming to the mess after work? A: I don't know, I'll have to ask 9er. |

So 1 Squadron OC, 1 Ops O or Battle Captain, 2 (or 3) Troop Leaders, assorted troop call signs and echelon. The org chart would have allowed for a CO, RSM, RSS staff, maybe an attached medic, etc. But, the reality of most units was neither enough qualified and available pers for each position, not enough roadworthy vehicles, and no real job for the HQ on a squadron exercise. I forget the exact breakdown of all the callsigns, but the OC would have been Niner, the step up CP Niner Bravo, and the troops as Four One, Four Two, Four Three. |
OK, so I have resolved the 9er issue.
What is the appropriate size and placement of same on my M38A1 CDN3? I thought that I may have seen below the door opening as well as on the cowl near the windshield? Anyone have photos of CF stencil format/sizing? |

Scroll for pics of stenciling and decal locations: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...t=14040&page=3 Trucks with full metal doors usually have the larger numbers. |
Thanks, that will help me out.
You don't by chance have a source for anymore of the Canada flag decals and long yellow radio warning decals do you??? |

The Radio Warning Decal came from Rob Teslia from the 31 CER Kit Shop. I don't have his contact info handy, but a quick internet search should yield something. Scotty EDIT: I'm not going to repost Robs info, but I did find this page on Google: http://www.network54.com/Forum/28173...or+help+needed |

Niner
Hi Chris:
Just to add to your growing appreciation of a topic that takes ages to absorb and is always being tinkered with by the Jimmies... Niner is the CO, not the OC, unless its an independent unit which have COs not OCs anyway... it gets worse! :) Sub-units (btys, sqns and coys) would be led by 19, 29, 39 etc. Brigade Comd became, by default, 99 because 9 in the Brigade HQ and Sigs Sqn was the OC of the Sqn (an independent command): RATS! I mean CO! Letters tend to follow the callsign such as 9A which would be the CO's rover (jeep) to us Gunners as the CO has a much bigger and thicker skinned beast to ride in normally (read M113 in my day, LAV nowadays). Zulu Niner is the callsign adopted by the CO's driver when the CO is out of the vehicle. If the driver responds to a call for Niner with, "Zulu Niner, send over" the other caller knows that the CO is not there but the driver will take a message for him. The "Z" was never actually painted on a vehicle as it was a roving callsign that went where the CO wasn't! :giveup The "long haired Niner" is also referred to as Niner Domestic, Niner Delta, and the Residential Sergeant Major! :ergh: Callsign for the RSM is 97, by the way. Have fun with the wheels for SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed!) :cheers:Mike :support:remember |
