Good to see your progress has reached the big and obvious stage. |

Really nice work.
I cant wait until our new house is finished and I can build our shop so I too can get tinkering. Working in the shop at work doesn't cut it. R |
Very nice work, warms my heart to see a restoration done right. She's gonna be a real looker once you get through with her ;-)

Well, been a bit, so here's where i'm at as of now
A shot of the rad armor before and after http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0157.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0160.jpg Started to paint all the armor while waiting for the machine shop to make new bushings in the clutch/brake pedal assembly, that also triples as the front cab mount and master cylinder mount. Until i got it back, I couldn't install the cab, which meant all the armor was kicking around http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0161.jpg Mount back and assembly starts http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0162.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0168.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0169.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0170.jpg I'm glad i haven't done final paint on the panels yet, all the new door hardware arnt fitting right and have had to remove them to modify them http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0172.jpg |

I am always amazed and astounded by those who are able to tackle rest projects of this magnitude and bring back such rare big beasts from the brink of extinction..
Well done... you have my utmost admiration..and awe!!! |
Been awhile since last update.
Im still working away, detailing is taking alot of time. Thanks to Rob on this forum I got another pintle/cradle for another deact mg I got from another forum, a 1919. I installed the front sprockets and have the 3 main wiring harness's installed. Will also start plumbing for fuel. I hope to fire the engine in the coming weeks, and in a month or so install tracks http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0252.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0253.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0254.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0255.jpg Andy |
Fabulous work !!!

Things have been kinda slow, lost heat in the shop for 2 weeks and the lil stuff takes alot of time
I got 3 gun sockets so had to mount them, weld in supports etc. Also I decided to install roof bows so I also had to weld in the mounts for that http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0258.jpg test fit of the 1919 out back http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0262.jpg this week I hope to get the rear inside final paint done so I can start on seats etc. All my wiring is starting to come along, got almost all the dash parts I need to assemble. |
So im still putting along, dash is almost finished, dash plaques look funny as i didn't pull the cover film off
http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0272.jpg Almost ready to install a track, and finally after many years in storage, and the last time since it was run (1961) the engine roared to life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tn9YLCSMN7Q Couldn't figure how to put the video in the post Andy |
Great
Andy,
Fantastic job that you're doing. Great motivation for those of us that are just starting. Peter |
Finally the tracks are ready to install
As delivered to me http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0274.jpg Strap cut and lying along side to go on http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0275.jpg And in place http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0276.jpg It is suppose to be a 2 man min. job but the wife and I managed to get it on. We together make up one normal size guy :) Next week the other side and i'll install the big tension springs that keep the rear idler sprocket tight |
You do know that these tracks are directional I hope....
There should be a direction of rotation arrow cast in the edge of the track. |
always read manual before starting an unknown job. I have the factory reprint from the track manufacturer from ww2 and it shows direction.I checked alot before installing, and had the wife verify lol. There are no arrows that i saw on the Israelis tracks

The grass always isn't greener on the other side, yours is probably easier and cheaper in the long run to restore, but when it gets to the states, if you ever want to come down and drive it, you are invited... :thup2:

End of April i fired the engine for the first time. All went well with some small issues.
May 24 weekend I pulled her out of the shop for some sun. Been over 3 years since she saw any. Still not under her own power but wanted to set the steering straight http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0284.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0287.jpg Then onto getting it ready to run. I wanted to have her driving under her own power for the 70th ann of D Day June 6th. Well all went well. Here is the video made Friday June 6th. Wife did the video and shes not very tech savvy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxDCbDDPNG8 And a shot out on the front drive http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0302.jpg |
Well done.
Your work is truly EXCELLENT! |
Modified the original oil bath filter system for a paper one
http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0310.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0311.jpg Floors almost done http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0307.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0309.jpg Dash almost done, short of a voltmeter and one more dash plaque http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0315.jpg And the hood sections done, wow they were a pain http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0316.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0317.jpg And another shot of interior http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0318.jpg |
Its been a long project but finally coming to an end
Got another set of fenders as mine were pretty rough. these also needed work but in the end alot less test fitting http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0329.jpg in primer http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0330.jpg and finally installed http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0334.jpg onto the other side http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0335.jpg |
Sooooooo last week I got the last fender on, reshot paint on the body and let it sit. The last gauge for the dash also showed.
Im waiting on the star templates and hood ord number templates so I can paint them on soon. today I pulled her out for the first fully finished body shots. Still need some small stuff like another gas can, a few more machine guns etc but all the hard stuff is done http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0339.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0341.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0338.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/.../m2a1-0342.jpg |
