David

Are those big round holes in each side of the division plate?
Was this a flame thower carrier?
I have never seen a riveted carrier without the rectangular holes (N.Z. never had MkII* carriers as far as I know)
I imagine this is a late hull. The british MkIII had no ducting at the division plate, and the air still went through the rectangular holes at the rear, but then it went up through a vertical duct. My guess is this carriers hot air just exited through the top of the rear engine cover infront of the rear plate.
Like most things, they evolve. This may still be a MkII*, but maybe a late one.?
Thanks for the photo. Very enlightening.

I have no idea what it is but I have two hulls that are the same but the other one is way better than this parts one.
Those round holes are original.

Dave, the round holes on your carrier hull division plate were for the radio cables to pass through. On the Mk1* they went up and over the plate/firing rest. For the later carriers they had the hole cut. Its a rather large hole compared to the cable but the 12 pin connector needed that space.

I have this hole in my division plate (which I have used for the wireless harness) Also another one in the gunners side armour. I was always under the impression they were for a flame thrower tube..... The harness wouldn't go outside! Ron
