Pics of T16-E2 Universal Carriers in Argentina
Even with shipping to the UK I think $3400 would be a good buy - anyone else interested?
|
still think it's a good price but it doesn't seem likely that any deal could be done !

Intressting thread this one, just goes to show whats still hidden out there. So how many has the scrap dealer got left complete with engine and transmission?

Whats he asking?
I see there has been a delay in getting an answer to that fundamental question...... 3x what was paid before may well be worth it if a 40' container was loaded with enough carriers. As was already said they are not making any more and if there is no market there then there is interest in other parts of the world. Personally it does not seem feasable for me alone but there are others out here in Canada who would want them as well.

I am sure a Canadian or European dealer will bring them all out at sometime soon and charge a fortune on the open market.
Interesting the E2 version of the T16, it fixed a number of problems with the original in terms of towing stability, they are 6-8" longer than a standard T16 IIRC. Came too late to be used during WW2 though. Mind you, many of the photos appear to show the bogies mirrored which the E2 was supposed to have altered so perhaps they are not all E2s or are early E2s. |
Looking at all the photos, there were some regular T-16s there as well at one time. No telling what the remaining vehicle models are but likely a mixture. The E2 hulls would be the later regular production hull for the most part so the oil coolers would be together near the bottom in front of the radiator. And the E2 would require an extra section of track for each side so another factor to keep in mind.
Compared to what I started with, these hulls all look pristine. They also were spared from the Swiss butchers so retain most of the wartime features including lockers and original pattern instrument panels. |
