HUP CABIN HEATERS

Mark,

My HUP has two holes drilled thru the floor behind the drivers seat and just to the rear of the divider. I presume that the holes were for a space heater.

I have an antique GM space heater from another vehicle (authentic to CMPs or not, I don't know), and it has two pipes attached to it. Both pipes fit into these holes, which leads me to believe that this was the location of the heater. If you get a chance I would like to review the references you looked at for HUP configurations.

An enterprising former owner installed a wood stove near the side door with a stovepipe pushed out thru the sliding hatch cover. Judging from the heat damage that my divider, interior covering and metal suffered, I will bet that the back of the truck was quite cosy when the stove was stoked.

Good luck with the tear down. I am looking forward to more photos of your interior as you strip it down.

Inside heater

I noticed two holes in that location in mine, but with metal plugs - and I've seen no other signs of the hot-water heating unit (Officers, For The Comfort Of) that was supposed to be in that location in the rear cab. I'm guessing that the heater was never installed at the factory.

I have some other holes in the cab floor here and there, roughly cut, about 1" diameter, but I'm not sure what the purpose is.

Why of course...

...I should have known that! Just by the size of the one inch holes I knew they were WAY too big for an officers wand...why do you think they carry sticks.:salute:

We carry sticks to swat the ORs when it serves our purpose... but to get back to the point in question, you're just jealous... considering what -40C does to your bits up there!

Those holes in the corner behind the driver are for the vents of the transmissions,fuel tanks and axel housings all come up in the corner and vent up to the roof..
The dog house horse shoe is for the breather hose for the carb...
According to the Ford wadeproof manual..
