RIP Clive........
....... so sad to hear ........ my condolences Rick and to your family.
Very fond memories of your Dad........ in the greater scheme of life........ if he was not going to recover fully to his old self........ as cruel as it may seem....... a peaceful death maybe a blessing!!!!! Bob C. |
I was shocked when I found out the title of this thread had changed........Oh no... Rest in Peace Clive.
My condolences to the family. Alex |
way to soon.....
Very saddened today to hear of Clive's passing. My heart felt sympathies go out to Clive's family. My feelings rest with Rob and Bob's comments. A major spoke has left the MLU wheel.
If for any moment, a communal donation for a wreath from the MLU members, would be in hand , I for one, would be more than happy to contribute. Robert |
Loss
Our sincere condolences to Clive's family and friends.
No doubt his hard work and dedication to the Military Vehicle restoration movement will benefit us all for generations to come. |
Wow. Sad to hear about this. Condolences to the family.
We lost a great guy and he will be missed. Luckily I got to meet and talk with him last year at Oshawa. |

That is very, very thoughtful of you. I will double what the members bring in on the communal donation. But we need "boots on the ground" to arrange the wreath. Who lives close enough to Clive's family to attend his funeral and convey our condolences? Hanno PS: just got a message from Clive's son Richard, he will pass on the funeral details |
making it happen.....
Well Hanno....as you've said, if anyone plans to attend the funeral and lives in the area....it would be extremely grateful. Members can PM me if needed or contact me directly at robert.morr84@gmail.com. And let us utilise the easiest way to transfer funds for all concerned.
Thanks Hanno and fellow members.....Robert |

Sinceres Condolences to Clive Law family
I just read the sad news about Clive Law. I am so very sorry.
Please accept our Sinceres Condolences from The Chartrand family. |
Clive's untimely death is huge loss to the study of the history of Canadian military materiel. He was a good friend and sometime work colleague for over 20 years. He was a huge help and encouragement to my research endeavours and although he could not always tell a Matilda from a Valentine, his vast photo archive was a tremendous resource. Dis Manibus

Gentlemen,
I wish to thank you all from the bottom of my hear on the kind words you've all written regarding my father. He truly was one of a kind and the entire Canadian military community has lost a great contributor. Richard |
Condolences
Clive was a true gentleman and a pillar of the collecting and research community. It was an honour to work with him on a few projects and to call him a friend. From one ex-Guardsman to another - 'Civitas et Princeps Cura Nostra'.
|
Rest in Peace Clive, I can't imagine a better ambassador for those of us who enjoy this military vehicle pass time. Always there to assist where ever possible with advice, knowledge and encouragement. A true gentleman in every respect. You will be missed.

Clive's on line guest book

For Clive's Guestbook go to:
https://beechwood.permavita.com/site...lLaw.html?s=40 The Beechwood page does not show Sat the 17th yet (as I write Tues pm). Perry - your Sexton is not the only HMV that Clive facilitated. The Cold War Collection's CVRT has his fingerprints all over it. For all mobile Ottawa area Rusty Old Truckers - the National Military Cemetery is on the eastern end of the grounds. I have proposed that we muster our wheels on the side of the access road downhill from the NMC grounds. The area near the large monument is best left open for pedestrians. Timings - visitation is 0900 to 1000, so be early. Walk to the Chapel along the yellow painted line. Weather forecast (4 days out is) - hot and muggy with 70% POP and thunderstorms No indications yet for after action muster point. The New Edinburgh Pub has changed ownership so I can't offer any recommendations. Suspect there is a chance the Guards' will have something at Cartier Square Drill Hall. MTF |
Rest In Peace Clive. I have enjoyed talking with you over the years and getting to read some of your publications. You will be badly missed in the military history community. :salute:

For fullest effect, I would suggest that any donations be identified in his name from a member of the historic military vehicle community. |
To Clive's Family. Please accept my sincere condolences. As others have said...shocking, wow & sad....I can’t believe it. I’m still shaking my head in disbelief.
I clearly remember first meeting Clive about 20 or so years ago at one of the Louisville SOS military shows and we remained connected ever since. I always looked forward to opportunities where we could chat such as Aquino, just a few weeks ago. His passion for militaria, military vehicles and significant contributions inspired all of us. His passing will continue to inspire as it is a reminder to all of us that life is short and we should make the most of it! Clive, Rest in Peace. We will miss you! Terry |

As diverse and widespread as members of this forum are, we are a remarkably a like-minded bunch, and we recognise those shining lights who illuminate our various paths. There are many, known and unknown, who would be the lesser without the influence and knowledge that Clive has given us. We cannot know the depth of your loss, but rest assured that many share your sense of sadness at the passing of a unique man. :salute: :support |

I would propose that MLU will make a donation to St. John Ambulance in lieu of flowers. Anyone wishing to chip in, please do so via this link: https://www.paypal.me/MapleLeafUp. I will then transfer the total in name of the individuals and MLU as a whole. Anyone is of course also free to donate themselves to any of the good causes listed, if they feel the need. Thanks in advance! Hanno |
Anyone wishing to chip in, please do so as soon as you can. I would like to finalise this over the weekend.
Terry's brother Pat is serving with St. John Ambulance, he gave some very useful tips Thanks in advance! Hanno Quote:

A few photos from Clive's service

Almost to the minute Clive's service started at 1000, and was over by 1200. Small sandwiches (with and without gluten), vegetables and dainty sticky desserts followed. Coffee and Adam's Ale were served. No hayboxes or SRD jugs seen.
I must pass along that Clive's wife and his daughter and son spoke appreciatively of the presence of the military vehicles and the Ferret in the procession. |
The procession

The procession was two funeral home cars with their staff, ahead of the Cold War Collection's Ferret, the hearse and other cars.
And the last photo is his temporary marker until a proper veteran's limestone headstone is delivered. |
