Derek, enjoying themselves they surely did. Why is it they always want to run over a car? ;)

Can you make out the registration number on the orginal print?

Thanks,
Hanno

We run over cars because it's fun. :)

Last month for the Family Day, we sold raffle tickets to ride in the loaders hole of a Leo IIA4 while crushing a car. Sold out in about 3 seconds! My youngest gave hers to a late-arriving family and they won!! They tried to give it back but she'd have none of it. Good girl.

If anyone wants these Ram pics in print form, they are for sale on ebay. No connection to the seller.

Here are a few photos, taken last week , outside a Vancouver regiment, just for interest

Was that the home of the BC Dragoons? Burrard Street Armoury? There used to be a Sherman sitting in front of it back in the 1980's which made for great, easy comparisons. Nice to know the Ram is still alive and well.

Vancouver Ram

It's an early Ram II, presumably one of the ones sent to Debert NS for training 4 CAD. They were then shipped back to MLW, for reconditioning - note the welded shut sponson doors and pistol port, plus the Mk.V 6-pounder and sent to Borden for training.

Ram location

Yes, it is the Beatty Street drill hall/ armoury of the British Columbia Regiment in Vancouver. I think I saw an Easy 8 late model Sherman nearby, and also a very old muzzle loading cannon. I' ll try and put a link here to all this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beatty_Street_Drill_Hall

This photo of my friends father, Wilfred French, taken at Debert Nov 1942. He was in the BC Reg 4CAD. Where's the gun barrel?

It is facing the other direction, the image shows the back of the turret.

Don't forget that many early Ram IIs were delivered without their armament because of 6-pdr shortages, there are numerous examples illustrated in Canada's Pride.

Swiss Ram tank?

2 Attachment(s)
In the early days after WW2 the Swiss Army museum at Thun had a Ram Tank on display.

This raises a few questions:

1) What was a Ram tank doing in Switzerland? Did they procure an example for testing after WW2?

2) As the Ram is no longer in the collection at Thun, who knows what happened to it? Expended as a range target?
