In the same vein I was recently sent this image of some "re-enactors", neither "re" or "enactor" would seem to be entirely appropriate. R. |
In the middle...
Is that Sgt. Schultz in the middle?

I also consulted my respected Wehrmacht walking encyclopaedia and as I thought, there were no known female Fallschirmjager troops and they were never issued jeans. Oh dear. R. |
Vehicle
And the vehicle on the right with the number 4?
Obviously a Wehrmacht Ländroverendiskoveritenvagen scout car. |

Allegedly both were ejected from the show, therefore the uploaded "official" web site photo seems to be a bit of a gaffe. R. |

http://www.dmkf.dk/gallerier/dmkf_be...s/DSC00211.JPG I donīt have any problems with fakes (either people or vehicles), as long as no-one is trying to pass them off as authentic. I also donīt understand the fuss about non-authentic vehicles used in movies. I watched Saving Private Ryan again the other day, and frankly, if someone is only watching the vehicles, he/she is made of stone. H. |

The Danish army Bedford RL, which is really a descendant of the Chev C60 as they are both GM products and the 300 ci Bedford engine is of similar basic design to the "Stovebolt". Regarding "fake vehicles", with the amount of interest and lack of vehicles through rarity or cost, this will always happen. No one worries too much now about the M201 Hotchkiss finished as a WW2 jeep, or the replica German armoured cars built on Land Rover running gear, or the German tanks built for films such as Saving Private Ryan. There was even a replica WW1 tank present at W&P built on a Centurion hull, seemed to fool a few people. You accept them for what they are. If it was not for some replicas or "fakes", the visual and moving image of these vehicles would not be seen for real, only as pictures in books or exhibits in museums, so they do serve a purpose. Witnessed the newly restored Jagdpanther running today (see web site www.sdkfz.com). It sounded and looked superb, but so it should with all the work done on it. Richard |
