From the Parts book for the 1942 Jailbar 3 ton truck (C218TF), the diagram for part No 01T-5101 looks to be the same shape as Carrier part No 543/2, except with a slight bow to it. Were the two interchangeable? Or have they stuffed up the Carrier diagram and 01T-5101 is the tophat section and 534/2 is the flat retainer?

The Solenoid is a standard item and is available in 6v or 12v. The 6v is now available in Aust through Ashdown.

It is a Junction Box. It seems there were at least two types, the one in the picture, and one in the parts book. The one in the picture may be an automotive part (it's not genuine Ford). It doesn't appear to be alike any of the Vintage Lucas stuff that's available, either.
The one in the parts book looks suspiciously like a domestic metal conduit junction box, for carrying the wiring the wiring in an old house. Don't laugh, as the Inspection Light socket on Aust and NZ Carriers is a Clipsal power point socket, as are the Ignition and Headlight switches! I think Bob Moseley may have a picture of some NOS switches which show they were numbered as carrier parts to confuse the Japanese. I would try asking at Old House Recyclers for electrical metal conduiting, or maybe your local tip has a recycling area, but it may be hard to get as it is now illegal to wire houses with.

Yes that is a distribution terminal box. They are a carrier specific component, with a cast lid and I don't know how you will go trying to get one.

The one that Tony has pictured is used elsewhere in the carrier. I am not sure where in an early Victorian LP2 but in the later ones one is against the rear wall, another near the terminal box and battery. ( especially in the special SA wiring versions )

The Solanoid you will find through Tony's post, but as for the correct conduit layout for your carrier. I am not sure of the early layout, but will find and attach pics to try and illustrate it for you. Not super difficult.

As for the conduit; it is still available from electrical wholesalers as it is used in commercial installations ( factories and other hostile environments ) they just put the usual TSP cabling inside which is well insulated. The unions and juctions and tee's are also still available - Clipsal brand are still even the right size and shape. ( or they were march '05 )

Your fan should be a six bladed truck fan, and assuming that you have the correct engine for your carrier ( i.e. the twin fan belt version '38 - '41 ) It mounts to the front of your generator with four bolts. ( as in the picture from Lynn )

Firstly, sorry for the quality of the last pic, but it is cropped from a larger pic.

If your carrier doesn't have a hole through the back wall behind the top of the seat, this is the other version that I am aware of.

Lower engine covers are available from Wayne Kotz near you in Queensland. They are a very difficult, and time consuming part to reproduce and Wayne does a very good job.

Same as with the late version the conduit bends 90 degrees forward and runs along the engine mount rail to the Junction box.

Junction block has a tee running vertically just below it with the off-shoot running to a flexible conduit that runs up the front edge of the engine ( the head ), that carries all electrical cabling for the engine ( i.e. generator to regulator, etc )

There is another tee that runs horizontally from the rear of the carrier below and connecting to the terminal block, through to the front of the carrier.

Sorry I'll have to get back to you with the rest of the layout as I can't remember what happens to raise it after the solanoid. Will investigate and get back to post here.

I have the corect conduit left over from my last carrier and all the conduit dies to cut the threads, all That I need now is that junction box, I am going down south next week and with luck may find one if not I will make one,

On thinking about your conduit in the rear of the hull. I now believe that you should take the path of the early layout and exit for the rear tail lights via the hole above the diff.

Ofcourse this doesn't take into consideration weither or not you have a hole in the back wall behind the rear passengers seat back. Perhaps you could post to let us know if this hole is present.

The pipe that you mentioned is infact in that picture just a piece of waterpipe dropped into the hull, but there should actually be a piece there for the starter lead as you suggested.

This pipe is very evident in the black and white picture. It penetrates the engine mount rail just before the support for the rear road wheel. the other end is fixed using a p clamp which is also quite visible in the same pic and the cable goes between the starter and solanoid.

This piece runs above the conduit to the rear lights.
