That's a great idea Dave. A website to let potential reenactors/mv collectors in Texas know who to contact for various impressions. I'll p.m. you with further info.

i think that we really needed to be together this last weekend, not that i was trying to push anything but i got lots of people wanting more info on living history. i could not be up there with the rest of the GIs due to the bren needing more room than there was up there. i think if we pull together more than more people will see the "COOL" stuff we have and want to join. i got 3 good leads.

Welcome aboard Dave! (brief note to our Texas brethren, make sure you use more than just your first name to identify yourself...it could get very confusing!) Is this Dave, Dave, or Dave? If you aren't already a member of an MVPA affiliate, allow me to invite you to our nascent club that we are forming in Denton. I talked to the Varners (of M.V.P.A. fame) in Waxahachie and they will fastrack our application to become an affiliate. P.M. me if you are interested.

My meeting mit der Parks of Corinth Sicherheitspolizei

...unt der lawyer. Attended the special meeting of the Board of Directors tonight. They pulled out their big guns...had a lawyer present as well as the Property Manager. Typical lawyer, wanted to monopolize the discussion. I think he was a little annoyed that I wasn't intimidated. Basically the discusion went like this:

Lawyer: Mr. Heuring, do you know that there have been several complaints during the last four months regarding your truck?

Me: That's interesting. What By-law am I in contravention of?

Lawyer: Mr Heuring, doesn't it concern you that some of your neighbours find your truck offensive?

Me: That's interesting. What by-law am I in contravention of?

Lawyer: Mr Heuring, having your truck on your property may present the wrong idea to people who may be interested buying property in your neighbourhood.

Me: That's interesting. What by-law am I in contravention of?

You get the picture. The home owners association don't have a legal leg to stand on.
There are a few very silly people in my neighbourhood who took exception to the way I ran the Home Owners Association when I was president; that is, fiscally responsibly, efficiently, and effectively. They wanted to spend thousands of our dollars on a block party, an expenditure that I objected to. They wanted to, and did, make a directory of all the homes in our neighbourhood complete with kids names, ages, schools, phone numbers, and pet's names. I labelled this, "The Pedophiles guide to the Parks of Corinth" I live in an upscale, Middle class neighbourhood inhabited by professional, educated people, who's lack of common sense is amazing to behold. I pointed this out to them, which gained their ire, hence the continuing harassment about my truck.
I hope that tonight has put an end to the nonsense over my CMP. however, I doubt it. I think they may try to rewrite the section regarding the parking of vehicles so as to exclude my truck. They will have to be careful of the wording so as to not exclude any of the other home owner's vehicles. I don't know how they will achieve that without making it so obvious that the new law is directed specifically at me, which then smacks of discrimination and leaves them open for a law suit. I'll keep all y'all informed as to what happens next.

So you and the rest of the owners, are really paying the legal beagles bill.

Sucks, but I wonder what the majority of the owners really think about the situation.

Down here we live on a similair concept, only one in Australia, and at any sign of stupidity, we will sell and move on.

Always apeears to some upstart, who knows what is right for YOU.

Try this

Derek Try this some hoa's(I could spell it different same effect
thou) recieve funding through local cities to help defray
some costs.Should they not be able to prove their case
go to a city counselmans office and tell them you are being
harassed by them using goverment funds, they very well
might shut them down,(misuse of goverment funds)
Its happened several times here in Phx and makes the board
pay for snooping out of their own pockets it will stop.
Short of that I have a friend that has an M35-A2 with a
poor muffler we could make some passed by their houses

hey you should have told me that it was tonight. i would have come up with a jeep on the trailer, with vickers K, M2HB, with the 6lb gun. it would have all been underweight.

parking

Hello deric
What a fuss these people are making your vehicle is an historic one i cant see how it is offensive and less its presents a hazard. Over here a great number of people work for themselvs and have all sorts of stuff in thier driveways mostly vans and trailors Theres a GMC and two tractors on mine at the moment although i do keep it tidy but i have never had a complaint like you are getting Here they may be going about the same thing in a differnt way by making you pay for vehicles parked.another money making scam

Dave Page 16-11-06 17:07

narrow minds

Hi ,
all this fuss; if you have not seen it yet, get a copy of "Over The Hedge" the parallel of good (well, sort of) versus maniacal home owner's assoc. representative, I'll say no more. At least get a good laugh out of this.
Cheers,
Dave - yes, yet another Dave (should we have numbers?)

Vic Eaton 16-11-06 20:52

alleramilitaria 17-11-06 01:29

the funny thing is that in some instances the lawyer will be hired by the HOA. the case will drag on and the HOA will be charged a hourly rate. they loose the case but must pay the leagle fees. then the HOA dews go up and that in turn lowers the value of all the homes in the HOA. when my water and dews went up in washington the value of my house dropped by over $5,000.00 in one year.

sapper740 17-11-06 16:04

Thanks all for your continuing support

Good points all, thank you, especially the Daves.

Unfortunately, the HOA receives no money from any level of government so I can't go that route. I do hope that when the majority of home owners who have no complaint with my truck see the money spent by the Board of Directors on lawyer's bills they throw a shit fit and turf the morons out.
Not to worry about the spelling of my name...I've been deciphering alleramilitaria's posts for some time now, and I am very used to mis-spelled (mispelt?) words!
In the meantime, I am going to take Dave's advice. I'm going to organize a rally and invite every one I know from the Red River and Arrowhead chapters of the MVPA as well as the people I've signed up for the new chapter here in Denton. I've also many friends in the Viet Nam Veterans assoc. and the American Legion who would be all to ready to show the Morons on the board of directors that there is significany support in the area for M.V. collectors.

 CHIMO! :salute:
