Speaking of which, there IS a backdoor into the forum you may use when you get one of these errors. The URL is:

Bookmark it as a secondary access to be used when required; it makes you login again, but what the hell.

Something HAS been going on, since sometime very early this morning (my time), perhaps after about 0900Z. My email was buggered as well. I've wasted half the bloody day trying to dig deep in this, but can't find a damned thing! :mad: I suspect perhaps a concentrated denial-of-service attack on one of the other clients on this server. In any case, it's blown a day I had earlier anticipated actually doing something constructive with. :pout:

In any case, everything seems to have settled now. In future, you can and should use either

gwball _at_ sympatico.ca

or

corowa30 _at_ sympatico.ca

or

jif _at_ corowa30.org

...or preferably all three (that way I can trace routings), to contact me if things go wonky again. Copy sunray _at_ mapleleafup.org in any case.... and you KNOW what to do with the " _at_ " business, I trust.

Outages?
 

I have no idea how the ones and noughts wend their way to and from your server Geoff, but it is wholly fast and reliable here and has been all this year as best as I can remember. As I can't recall any frustrations we can assume it just works.

If you want to know the routing you'll have to tell me how to resolve it; me, I just click my MLU favourites link and it appears in probably 100mS.

Sporadic connection to MLU
 

Jefe, I've been experiencing the same problem as described by others. Connection to MLU has been sporadic at best for the better part of two weeks now. I'll make 7-8 attempts over the course of several hours before I can finally connect. It makes no difference if I use a link, a web search, or your internet address saved in my favourites. In the future I'll email you when it happens to see if that provides any insight into whats going on for you.

What access were you using, Rick? The MLU one or Tortuga? Always try the latter if the former doesn't work...

I had the same trouble with the usual front door. The other one worked but did some funny things with links to posts saying there was no such thread.

I'm on the MLU link right now... is that yours or are you on Tortuga?

0635 Ottawa time .org failed to connect, tortuga seems fine.

Weird... I thought they had that whupped! They adjusted the sequence of DNS-related addresses in the nameserver and it's been working ok here when I've been on, but obviously still buggered. I repeat for the general audience, use the Tortuga link if the MLU one doesn't work:

This is the router address sans DNS. If it doesn't work then they're rebooting the server, either that or it's under attack. I'm going to request a change of server to see if that works - I'll try to give you notice, but if you encounter extended outage, that may be the reason why.
