Riverina

Good news for me Howard I know over of 40 Military vehicles in the Riverina trouble is all those irrigated Farmers think they are worth twice their wait in Gold. Now that the rivers and dams are just about buggered I might load up the semi and head to see a few cash strapped cockies what your address I will call in on the way back? :thup2:

Howard 11-11-07 05:08

Straying...

Good Lord, we get off track on this forum, don't we?!
Wusty, Give me a hoy, I have the afore-mentioned C60L for you to take back. I know of one other Chev that is there for the taking near Narrandera... will cost you a Ford or two.
When you do come up this way, be sure to buzz me well before hand & I'll organize a farm walk or two. (You should already have my contact details)
And yep, the cockies are a bit cash-strapped. Only one (of my contacts) is starting to show signs of giving in...

Hull No 2

Ladies ( there are a couple here) and gentlemen. I can confirm that one of those said hulls is definately 6002.
That would have to make it the oldest known surviving 2 Pdr hull.
Col, good score......
(as far as any details of the Border Raid, I'm sworn to secrecy)

.........Wonderful comments but I didn't actually say they came from W.A. but I do think W.A. is a nice place ????

Oh, so we're resorting to Red Herrings to put people off the scent? Why, of all the dirty, low, underhanded tricks!! I like it!

I should have guessed it wasn't WA, it too far to trek across the desert with parts, even for three carriers.

We have our defences in Victoria too...

Tony Smith 11-11-07 11:05

Now, now. No need for any of this nasty business between Vic and NSW, is there?

It's the Queenslanders we should be worried about, they're a little unhinged.

Eeeek!

Looks like Rip Van Winkle

Tony Smith 11-11-07 11:09

And the South Australians? They're always up to no good.

Here's Pedr in the Gunner's seat as he sneaks another LP1 Carrier across the dried up Murray:

Tony,

Rather apt photo...........the actual Vickers Mk6, behind was one that was liberated from your country back to the UK many years ago. Recently rebuilt, it is now in a major collection further around the world.

Tony Smith 11-11-07 11:20

There's no Border Guards in NSW. We just rely on the big fence.

Fences also work well around the Lithgow Small Arms Factory, never failed us yet.

Look, Richard, we're talking about State Border raids, not International Border raids! Now you've gone and trumped the lot of us.

Border Raiding

Hello All,

Finally I am posting - that should please some people!

Un-beknownst to all the "Mexicans" on the other side of the Border, South Australians have been regularly crossing the lines to "rescue" such items.

Here's a "rescue mission" from a few months back - we actually crossed a couple of borders.

Darian.

Border Raiders out of hiding

Finally he speaketh.

So there you Victorians, you might have gotten the Grand Prix and all the other good stuff, but we win on the MV count.

This trip was like the song "The Twelfth Day of Christmas"

On the twelfth day of raiding, my best mate brought to me,
Two Bren Gun Carriers,
Two rusty Bofors,
Five Side-Valve Fords,
A four point two inch mortar,
different types of military radio,
And a rusty old F15 Blitz

hahahahaha

:yappy:

The Victorians might not have seen them slipping away, but have no fear, your movements are being monitored.

Checked out Google Earth, and this is what I found in Kilburn:

Ah but that's because you didn't look very carefully, see what's at the end of my street.

Not measuring, pinching!

The lad on the left has been given Picquet Duty, but being a strapping country fella, he thought the Boss meant Picket duty, so he is propping up the fence! This is a tedious job, and he has actually fallen asleep on his feet, a skill acquired by many a digger, along with an expression that feigns wakefulness and will fool any junior Lt.:smoker: Unfortunately, it doesn't fool his mates, and one has snuck up behind him to steal his paybook and wallet.

....er.... Tony.... methinks his mate has a little more in mind than a paybook and wallet...

Rusty 12-11-07 09:01

Look at his mates Rifle

Hope his mates rifle is not loaded, would be a shit load of trouble if it went off.

Stay out of the West

Dear, Eastern Staters
It's pointless coming all this way west as most of the dealers like Duck and Deep Fried cleaned us out long ago, that's what they get told anyway. All that's left now is boring crap like Stuarts and Grants and those pig ugly Dingos.

And carriers, they are like cow pats over here, you can't cross the yard without stepping on one.

At present the locals are all getting Ferrets because;
a. it's the flavour of the month.
b. every farm has at least two.
c. You don't need a low loader to shift it, just a battery and some petrol.

There aren't that many Blitz trucks available over here either as the farmers are still using them and are waiting for the warranty to end before selling them on.

Save your money and time. Stay home.

Oh well, I was thinkin' of head'n west, but if thats all thats there then I might as well stay at home and wash the truck again. Its just so hard to get that road grime out between the treads.
Can't thank you enough Wayne for letting us know and not wasting a trip. :nono: :smoker: ;)
Colin.
