cmp for sale
You can see how they had to lift up the cab to run a drive shaft from the Buda to the blower The fenders have been lowered after they moved the cab. They could see better over the snow blower with the higher cab

Visit to Australia?
Hi Rick,
I just made another mortgage payment on the house today and have exactly 6 years left to go before it's paid off, then I am free to start traveling so I will plan a trip to Australia and look at the trees personally and some of the CMP's while i'm at it!See you in 2016! Derk. |
It's alive
The CMP can be seen driving about in this youtube video..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERC25UbeSGI |
Certainly alive.
Sounds more like a V8 than a six, but hard to hear the engine over the gear changes! Do we get to see it in action after the next snowfall? Neat truck. Rich. |
Deja vu.....
This very truck has been up for sale before and was seen on MLU.... at least a few years ago.... same raised cab and modified fenders....

Montreal area.....
A very fine running vehicle..... been at my place in Ottawa from Montreal during the Blue Balls Xpress.
Strong runner with the 261......very very clean CMP. Owner does appear at times on MLU. Possibly one oothe odd Australian late war contract with small axles/16 in. tires on a C60l frame. Bob |
16 inch rims
Your right, I didn't notice the 16 inch rims. never saw that before.

16 Inch Rims
Hi Bob and Harry
Yes, the 16" rims on the long wheelbase are interesting, looking at Bill Gregg's book there are a couple of Pat 13 C60L trucks shown all appear to be special body trucks like Instrument Repair and Office. The text under each picture however says 10:50 X 20 tires, though the wheels in the pictures are clearly 16". To fit the 16" rims the trucks would need to be fitted with the smaller brake drums and axles. That the truck has these features it might mean that it was one of those special use vehicles which was later fitted with a cargo body. If it was a special use truck it may have lead a much more relaxed life and hence be in very good condition. |
Mike!!
Mike, hello. I'm moving from Melville to PA. I'll have to look you up when I get settled in. I'm tied up with two M37s but we can probably do some parades together etc.. Don't need another CMP for the collection. I'm looking for an acreage but the wife is looking for a house in town. :thup2: See you soon

Special 16 in rims....
What I have been able to observe and photograph has been ALL Australian contracts made in late Aug to Sept 1944...... they are all C60L with the small axles and 16 rims. a further oddity is that I have seen them made/dated a few weeks apart YET some have the old early civialin restangualr instrument cluster while others have the round dials...... done with left overs..???
Seen them in Sault Ste Marie, Belleville, I have one, one in Montreal, Grimsby, ect DAvid Hayward... God bless his soul.... would love to dealt with such oddities. It seems that they were all late war tiem production that may have been cancelled ands never sent downunder and eventually got liquidated locally in Eastern Canada.... pure speculation in my part. Box

Anyway, it looks like a very nice restored vehicle. I see the auction ended with the reserve not met, so I guess we'll be seeing it on here again. H. |

I'm just posting this to help out my friend Andre. Andre has decided to let go of a couple of his Ford projects. If anyone is going to Acton in a few weeks they can speak to him there. If not message me and I will pass on your info to him. The trucks are at Andre's place, southwest of Montreal.

Wow, prices must have really increased in the last little while.
$30K to 65,000 Euros..... At todays price $30K USD is about 21,725 Euros. |
No judgement, just a matter of observation.
Even if the owner spent the equivalent of twice the price inc buyer premium, shipping, maintenance and repairs to get her up to standard, that would still only be $30,000USD x 2 = $60,000USD or 43,450 Euro which is still a ways off from 65,000 Euro... Considering the Auction brought worldwide buyers, I would assert that the fair market value a year ago was what was paid at the time. Nevertheless, it is indeed a nice example of a somewhat rare machine and I hope it finds a good home. |

I won't comment on the price, but it certainly seems to be a very good and original example of the breed. As it came from the UK originally, it must be one of the unused & still crated Carriers which were disposed of to the public many decades ago. Hanno (no connection to the seller) Quote:

That second model Windsor carrier is listed in the key cards held at Bovington. The Bovington record shows the original WD number from 1945 service, plus the subsequent change in WD number to the post war format. The carrier remained in British service until sold by Ruddington in 1957. It was in the Belgian museum before being sold and shipped to the museum in Indiana, USA. The original paint is sitting under the current top coat.
Still has the original engine and data plate! |

Didn't sell?
US $33,408.76
Approximately C $42,016.52 Reserve not met [ 39 bids ] Anybody know what the final result was? I assume somebody on here put in at least one bid? Sellers sometimes contact highest bidder to see if they can negotiate..... Reserve must have been very high..... |
