Most interesting this!!

It has "surfaced" a Biederman P1 Crane Tractor in Norway that I am on to make an article abouth.

And there is almost next to nothing to be found on this maker.
So I would love some photos on the Reo's, Federal's and Corbits in the same range! And if anyone have any on the Biederman, it for sure would make my day!
Anyone who can help out?

Also any Tech Orders or other literature on them are of great interest.
Since these trucks was issued by the US Army Air Corps there is no such things as TM's and/or SNL's for them. As Far as I have learned (from other forums), there is only made Tech Orders for them.
They are:
The REO/Biederman F-1 tractor was TO AN-19-25-53, the Federal C-2 Wrecker/Crane was TOs AN 19-20-9, AN 19-20-10, AN 19-20-16, AN-19-20-17

So if anyone have any of these, I would love to get my hands on any of them, and a good scan/copy would do just fine!

Hello Rolf, that is a nice find as the Biederman is very rare!
Does this truck still exsist?
Who was the manafacturer of the crane?
I know of Thew, Lorain and Quickway but perhaps there were more.

I wil post a few pictures found on the internet.

Yes the Biederman still exsists and the photo was taken just a few montsh back.
It is in remarkable good condition and very compleete.
The new owners (fahter and son) as just started to dismantle it for a full rebuild, which will take a few Years. All the vehicles they have restored are done very professional!

The crane used on it is a Michigan TM-16.

The photo you show is one from one of the books of Bart Vanderveen.
There is very few photos of Biedermans at all. And they only made a total of 1500 vehicles during the war. Some 300 of them was P1 Crane Trucks.

Door ons werk op het strand van Schoorl (1970 - 2006) heb ik de
Dukw's vaak aan het werk gezien , maar gek genoeg nooit een
foto van gemaakt.
Mijn eerste vrachtauto op het strand was een International van
het type M5-H-6, bouwjaar 1943.
Het leek me leuk om op het MLU forum weer eens te schrijven in
het Nederlands. Wie weet tot ziens.

Mlu forum in het Nederlands, eens wat anders, maar zijner foto's van die DUKW's, ik heb er volgens mij 1 gehad, ex Koos van der Helm, door het zeewater compleet verrot,leek van de buitenkant redelijk, maar alle spanten waren tot op de dikke laag verf die er op zat helemaal weg. Ik zal eens proberen om een foto te scannen en op het forum te zetten.

Herewith a picture of the ex Petten DUKW I had, sold it because I didn't had the time to restore it, the spare hull is upside down on it, but you still could move it on its own power.

Dirk and Hendrik, thank you for your replies and the pictures.
I have a huge amount of pictures spanning the period 1952-1980 but these need to be restored as they are discolored by time.
Most of the negatives are quit good, but have to find a way to get those in a digital format.
Comencing januari 2th Both of my eyes will be operated on and I will not be able to use the computer to half of february.

That means a lot of reading to do when my eyes are ok.

In the mean time I wish all users of this forum a happy 2007.

Found this image of a Canadian 604 in Holland with a D7 on the back.

There are a couple of interesting details on trailer.

1. No toolbox on swan-neck

2. Folding "Bees Knees" ramps (as per your timber carrier and earlier Mack EXBX and White 920) as against standard triangular ramps.

Trying to find SM contract number since 604 / Trailmobile combination definitely used by RE as well as RCE in NW Europe 44-45!

Interestingly I found what appears to be another 604 in the back of a yard here the other day. looks in reasonable nick considering that it has been out in the elements!

The Federal Model 606 truck was equipped with a Gar Wood US6T26 hoist, and was designed to be used in conjunction with a trailer for aircraft recovery and maintenance.
