Knob and bracket,
Eric,
I have a spare knob and the bracket it screws to on the outer window frame but I don't have a spare slider.Let me know where to send it and it's yours.I just removed it from a spare window frame and of course broke the long stud that ties everything together but it can be replaced.I wish I had a set of torches to heat things up properly to remove them.I also needed one of these brackets for my cmp and broke mine while removing it! Hi Eric,
The holes in the centre of the windscreen frame are for the wiper shaft. |
Quote:
I know that but i think they are on the early model only :teach: on my ford they are not there and i have the short bracket so what is my theory is the early model come with the long brackets so the holes on the hinge and the windscreen frame could go higher :teach: |
Chev windshield arms
Hi Eric,
On the Chevs the original windshield throwout arms were the short ones. The longer arms were introduced around May 1942 to allow the windshield to open to a full 90 degrees, from 30 degrees. A Service Bulletin issued in October 1942 shows a windshield conversion kit was issued to retrofit early vehicles. Brian |

Thanks for the info :note: so it was the opposite that what I was thinking  Hum..... why my ford have the short one :rolleyes :confused |
windshield sliders
Eric,
I am glad you started this thread as I was looking at my windshield frames and they have the groove in the hinge and one of my windshield frames is missing both sliders on it but I wasn't worried about it as I have 2 spare window frames I was going to use but they are out of a Chevy HUP.they are the short sliders! Now I will have to hunt down 2 Ford long sliders for my truck as well.I will be visiting some parts trucks next spring and If I come across extra sliders,I will pick off one for you if you are still looking for one.I will send you the parts I have for you tomorrow. Derk. |

Do you think this is a rebuilt tag for the motor :coffee |
be nice if we could accually see the tag rather then a dark smudge in the background of a rather dark photo. Be better if you tidied the photos up so we can see them before you post them.

Nothing wrong with the photo nice and clear here ;) |
Hi,
Anyone else can't see the pic;) |
Mohawk
Hi,
Mohawk was an engine rebuilding plant located in Montreal. I remember the company from the seventies and eighties but they must have gone out of business years ago. This would mean that the engine in yor truck has been replaced by a rebuilt engine. The numbers on the tag are the engine number that Mohawk gave your engine and the sizes of the crankshaft journals and cylinders after the rebuild. Paul Singleton |
Works for me.....
Hi Eric
Standard engine rebuild tag..... Cyl. bored .040 oversize.....main and rod bearings undersized at .010. Boob |
