Hiya,
Thought you might be interested in seeing some (partial) views of this D60 that is undergoing pretty radical surgery at the moment. The nice thing about it is that under the coat of (Italian) army paint out popped it's original brown! By the way, does ANYBODY HAVE A L.H. DOOR? I feel a bit sick at having to rebuild what's left of this one:eek:

@ Stefano. I know you probably prefer a genuine D15 or D60 door. But It might also be interesting to search for a Dodge WC54 Abulance door. Allthough this is not exactly the same, it should be quite similar and probably easier to find than a "D" door. Maybe you could use some of this ambulance door to restore the original door. Just a thought.

Late answer, Les, haven´t followed the thread for two months.

My Dodge is a D-15.(See the very good page at http://www.old-dodge-trucks.co.uk. The frame has been lenghthened by its only civil post-war owner, a blacksmith.
It will be reset to original length.

Do you still have any RAF or RAAF Dodge D-15 pictures left?

By the way: does anybody have a tool box with spare tire holder for sale?

That D 60 is near Leeds, but has been stood for so long in the rain that areas of the cab are really, erm, tired.

It would save, but a lot of work.

Here's a photo i found of a Dodge d60 in use with the Canadian army in Holland during world war two.

A dodge d15 . also in Holland, also used by the Canadian Forces.

The D60 looks like an ex-Canadian Army truck, in civilian service shortly after WW2.

A mystery hole (for some body). On each dash board of T110 D60 L, there is a circular hole between the tank level indicator switch and the left of the dash board. When these trucks were delivered in AFRICA or EUROPEAN theater , this hole was closed using a circular platic part. When these trucks were delivered to russian army, this hole was used to insert a fuel pump (in the same manner as DODGE D3 APT). The aim of this devise was to increase the quantity of fuel into intake collector to start the engine when the temperature was very low.

After the read of all information about Canadian DODGE D60 and D15, I am thinking that you were able to help me in the research of the story of my T110 D60 L5 (picture above)

During the restoration phases, I had founded some identification plates which were covered by a coat of paint (olive drab then grey). Nevertheless upon two of them some data are readable (because stamped)

On the larger plate we read

D60420C
20
91095980 I thing that it is it’s serial number
T110 L-708010
SM6086 (Contract number)
12 1 44 may be delivery date

on the other plate

DRIVER HAND BOOK D60L HB1
MAINTENANCE MANUAL C 420 D2

Following these data, is a guy who can determine a bit of my truck story?

I have just been looking on another forum and a contributor has posted a couple of pictures of Dodge D15s.
The pictures can be found on the WW2dodge.com Forum. Select Dodge Forum and when the list of threads come up select the one titled Canadian Dodge D15 in British Service. Clicking on one of the pictures will take you to photobucket where there are 11 photos including one of a Chev and another that shows a Bedford being refueled from drums.
These pictures may be familiar to some but I have not seen them before.

Hello David,

seeing your name pop up reminded me of a question I was asked this last week about one ton WW2 Dodges.

We know the Canadians built a pile of 133" one ton panel vans for the Commonwealth Forces, as they are seen in brochures and in a good few period shots, mostly in north Africa kitted out as Ambulances.

I'm sure when we chewed though this some time back we noted that there were bundles of 133" and 120" wheelbase trucks procured, which puzzled me, as although every single one of the one ton 133" wheelbase trucks could have been panel vans ( possible, but unlikely I'd suggest ) the 120" one tons would have to have been pickups, as that chassis length only came as pickups ( half ton panel van is 116" wheelbase, one ton panel van is 133" wheelbase, but one ton pickups came as either 120" or 133" wheelbase )

Can you give me an indication of the total number of 120" and 133" wheelbase trucks procured on S/M's please? If there were relatively few 120", then it might just have been a handful of pickups for general use that never left Canada, but if there were a substantial number of 120", even if quantities of 120" and 133" were relatively similar, we might infer that 120" one ton pickups were shipped and used up the sharp end - we just haven't seen pictures.

I don't have any numbers other than it seems the Census Numbers allocated to donated panel vans used as ambulances. I have put my file on the internet as a doc file as I don;t have the facility now to save as html files these days.

I do however have a parts list with all Canadian and US trucks delivered as Dodges or Fargos and they seem to have serial numbers. There is also a list of numbers for US war contracts which has been interesting to peruse.
