Hi Dale, as requested. Front guards fitted and bolted and the old portapower in action to tension the tracks. So much easier than using the crook:cheers:
Colin.

Hi one and all, been a bit slow at posting lately. Here's a few shots of how I make the truck gear stick into a carrier one. Of course this may or may not be the correct way if there is one but it works for me. :teach:

And the finished product. This is about a 3 hr job for me. After the slot has been welded and reshaped back, there is a taper on the top of the gear stick, then it must be machined down to thread cut dia and of course cut the 3/8/unf thread. The overall length is important as well.

Hi all, I thought I had a spare one of these but I don't. I had the coupling and the diff side of it but not the trans side. One is no good without the other so I had to make one. I started with a piece of 75x16mm plate, cut it over length, made a quick set of press forms and with the aid of some heat I bent it to a 16mm offset. Sorry I never took any early pics

The female spline came off a tailshaft which I put in the lathe and machined all the unwanted material and cut a recess to the end so it fitted perfectly into my plate. I welded a piece of round pipe to the centre of my plate which allowed me to fit it into the lathe, bore a hole in the centre and machine the 2 surfaces parallel to make the 2 pins sit vertical

After I welded both sides of the spline socket to the plate I put it back on the lathe and machined the centre back so the washer and nut can sit flush to the trans shaft. The pins are welded both sides and ground back. After all that I gave all of it some cosmetic grinding but was very carefull not to grind off to much weld. A coat of paint and that's it.
Colin.

Hi Colin

I look forward to it, I know you will post heaps of photos, though for a fleeting moment I thought it might have been something with a "Turret".

Cheers
