Rubber Roof Membrane
 

Hi

I used Rubber Roof Membrane material both for the under floor and between nose and cab. Check with a commercial roofing contractor the type that does large flat roofs. Take photo what you are working on and generally they will give you enough scrap roofing to do 5 trucks. If you want the sticky stuff it is what they use at edges it is about 6" wide and comes in rolls. Again they gave me the end of roll.

Under floor webbing
 

Hi Ryan et al,

Another good source of webbing as used under floorboards is Spotlight haberdashery stores in Australia. I bought identical webbing to the original webbing under my floorboards from them. Only comes in white but a packet of green dye also available at Spotlight solves that. I just sprayed them with Lanotec after installing on floorboards and they should last forever and prevent squeaking. Total cost $15 for webbing and dye.

Spotlight is also a good source of eyelets and snap fasteners which may come in handy for vehicle restorations.

In other news today I snapped a leaf spring just near the mount point. Right rear. Bugger.

How did you manage to snap a spring, Ryan?

Looked like she was half way there with old age and I just did the rest with a couple a bumps as I nudged the chassis to fit between all the other shit cluttering my shed. :)

Some recent fab work on the spare wheel carrier.

I've got 3 POL can holders on top of the toolbox but I still have two spare bolt holes. What are they for?

But there is only two bolt holes left. And it's an original tool box. That would leave one side loose.

Hi Ryan, the other two holes are in the lugs welded to the end, four holders are a bit longer than the box top.

Lol! I always thought that was for bolting up to the wheel frame.
I'm glad I'm not in this thing alone.

What is the correct size bolt for the pol can holders that screws into the toolbox? I'll pick some up at bunnings tomorrow.

Hi Ryan,

5/16 UNC x 3/4" long should do it. Suggest you get them at proper bolt and fasteners shop however.

I personally give Bunnings and Masters a miss for fasteners for anything to be used on my vehicle. I found some "5/16 Imperial bolts" I purchased at Masters had a head size that defied any spanner in my garage.

They were too big for 1/2" and 13mm and too sloppy for 9/16" and 14mm.
I finally tried an old 1/4 Whitworth in my collection and it was a perfect fit.

I suspect the Chinese manufacturers were working to 60 year old info about standard screw sizes in Australia!

Bolt grades
 

Hi Ryan,

Should have added to specify grade 2 bolts as there are no grade markings on them. I have never seen any original Grade 5 or 8 bolt which have markings on any CMP vehicle except inside the engine.

There may be exceptions but for the most part the vehicles were put together with grade 2 bolts.

I am chasing a straight front Bumper with the spring bar a drivers side fuel tank and a toolbox and some saveable windscreen frames for a F15A got anything like that lying around ?? :thup2: :drunk:

Sorry I didn't reply plushy.
The F15 was sold as a whole privately. The chap who bought it is going to restore it. I have pointed him in the direction of MLU.
I have purchased a S2a land rover as a replacement.

My blitz story is not ending though. The passion is still there. I still have a couple of trucks left and hope to one day have a restored F60. I'll start a thread on that when things are organised.
