"Yes honey, I need to buy this truck."

"But why dear, you already bought a truck after your retirement to tinker with and keep you out of the pub?!?"

"Yes I did honey, but this one is for after my retirement."

:D

eddy8men 04-11-15 22:07

I saw the truck at bob Grundy's yard in ashton only last week and have to say the body work was superb.
I just hope none of us ever need it :D

WW2 1943 -46 Chevrolet C 15 A, Army truck, 4x4
Sale price: £3,900.00 make an offer
Last update: 13.10.2013
Car location: Bury, United Kingdom
Sale type: Fixed price listing

1943 - 46 WW2 Chevrolet Army truck. Built originally for the British Army. it is R/H/D. as you can see its in original condition and could either be used as it is or re-painted etc to smarten it up. it was fitted with a Perkins diesel engine approx. 50 years ago. the engine is unbelievable. it starts instantly every time. the cab really needs some repairs. new metal letting in etc. but it has been in use this year as it is. it is mot and tax exempt.
I am the first to admit that I know nothing about these vehicles. im not even sure of the model (maybe someone could tell me) it looks loads of fun though and would be great for taking to rallies/re-enactments etc etc (if you are quick there is a big one at Pickering in Yorkshire this weekend)
The truck has a huge winch mounted to the chassis near the rear axle (see pics) It also still has the machine gun turret visible on the roof. the interior pic shows the engine cover missing but we do have that
Runs and drives. we can deliver at extra cost. comes with v5. registration number is DJU 354 and the current tax disc is here.
The v5 states a registration date of 24/06/1946 but the previous owner told me it was manufactured in 1943.
The winning bidder must pay a £250 deposit immediately after the auction ends. the balance must then be received within 5 days.
No bidders with less than 10 positive feedback unless we are contacted first either by phone 07971-845395 or by email. failure to do this will result in bids being cancelled
Edit: I now see the ad is two years old...

Hanno beat me to it but here

Colin R 25-07-16 12:57

Thanks gents. reason i ask is that this was the vehicle i part owned with a work colleague , friendship went south and vehicle had to be shifted from work.
I was told by a mutual friend he said he took a loss, which meant he sold it for less than £2500. So not a bad profit for R&R!
And yes as it was in his name i got nothing :fry:

Ian McCallum 25-07-16 23:50

Came to Norfolk, one of our crowd bought it on the first day. Actually bought it for £6000.

Colin R 26-07-16 00:57

it was a nice wagon when i was working on her and she ran well. hope the new owner has fun sorting her out.

meant to ask, what paperwork came with her?

Ian McCallum 26-07-16 12:17

Have no idea as I only heard from his father that he had bought it. I can speak to him, what should have/ are you aware of that could have been passed on?

Colin R 27-07-16 20:38

When we originally got it, it came with a folder of info about how it was bought by the chap we got it off and a few other basic bits/pieces/plans.

1941 Chevrolet 8CWT.

Unfortunately I am in the process of cutting back my collection due to an increase in my work commitments.

also for sale is my 1941 Chevrolet 8CWT.

In running condition with its original engine (ministry of supply rebuild plate) all soild with no rot. The breaks are all reconditioned and it has 5 nos sand grip tyres. All lights and gauges work.

I was planning to rebuild the carburettor ( rebuild kit included) this winter and make the hoop irons ( tube and angles included) ready to have a canvas fitted ready to get on the road next year but unfortunately I just won't have the time.

I have plenty of spares and parts avaliable to finish off the truck including a complete spare engine and gearbox.

this is a nice little truck that fits in a normal garage and at £7950 a great investment which will only go up in value with improvement and time. Open to reasonable offers.
