War and peace show 2012

Well over the forum there has been much talk of a carrier get togther at the W&P show ( Beltring) this year. As some of you know i have a very prominent pitch at the show. I will be planing my display area over the next month, so with that in mind I would like to make the offer to forum memebers to hold the get together on my pitch. You can park your carrier on pitch all week, i also have a very large tent (18x24) for use a social area . There is always a brew on but bring your own cake !

Those of us who met up last year had a good chuckle and play.

I will be taking 2 carriers, please let me know if anyone wishes to take up the offer.

W$p 2012

Shaun,

I would like to bring one carrier and I am sure Malcolm Caley would bring his this year. I am booking the time off work today for the week.

cheers Kevin.

shaun 16-01-12 08:42

Hi Kein, i will lean on Malcolm to bring his as well, i have know him 20 years so he should be OK TO leave it with us looking after it if he did not want to stay down all week. What are you doing for transport ? Mark can get 2 carriers on his rigid.

So thats 4 .

RichardT10829 16-01-12 09:10

what dates does it fall on this year ?

EDIT: its the 18th - 22nd July

I can make the 18th and 19th (leave on the evening of the 19th or first thing on the 20th) wont have carrier though which is a shame....i have to be realistic thoug i just cant afford to shuttle it down there this year all be it, it will be running by then i promise. I cant take any time off in this month thanks to the Olympics..(big demand for brick layers)

i would most likely take the train....anyone able to pick me up at the station down there :D

kevin powles 16-01-12 10:02

Shaun, Speak to Malcolm as he might have something lined up for transport.

Anyone know what the Aussi record is for carrier in one place?.

kevin.

shaun 16-01-12 10:11

Ok Will do. Im fine for transport just thinking of you guys.

I can remember seeing 13 lined up in an old copy of CMV i think.

Richie , i will save a bed space in the visitors tent for you, you will not want to go home on the evening of the 19th !! best plan to leave on the 20th from the start. Plenty of opertuanties to crew one of mine mate, you never know seeing as you have your "H" i may even let you be my driver for an arena run. Just pack the right uniform (not your normal "builders" one ! "

Think it was 21, at Corowa in 2005

RichardT10829 16-01-12 10:26

Hmm do we have 21 carriers in the UK ? by that i mean Mk1 and Mk2 rather than T16's

Shaun, I will source some WW2 kit then hahaha. this visitors tent... not like a hobo hostel is it ? would hate to wake up in the dead of night getting shivved off someone....or worse stuck with something else :yappy:

shaun 16-01-12 10:40

Richie, i always take a bit of extra kit IE tanks suits etc.

Basicly the tent layout is a huge 18x24 admin/drinking/eating tent - 12x12 cook tent - 9x9s for the perminant staff and a 12x12 for the waifs and drifters -there may even be a guy in there selling "big issues" - no Royal Marines though !!!! All the tents are linked into a big complex. There are a limited number of proper steel army beds with proper mattresses !! But they are on a " if its not taken when you get there you can use it !" order, failing that its strechers and camp beds. I will talk to you about booking in with me later.

eddy8men 17-01-12 00:35

Thats great Rick, you have seen the set up , are you staying out in the back field again or crashing at our pitch ? we can discuss over the phone anyway.

eddy8men 17-01-12 10:24

i'll take you up on the offer of a place to crash if that's alright. much as i liked being stuck in a corner next to the sh1tters on the back field last year i feel it would be rude to decline such a generous invitation :rolleyes

rick

ps. i'll bring a slab of foster's as payment for the rent

RichardT10829 17-01-12 11:01

i have secured 18th + 19th leaving on the 20th... and its in the family calender so i will deffo be there this year.

shaun 17-01-12 22:54

Thats good news buddy ! i think Andrew wants to have a word with you there ! ha ha ha so thats you , Kevin and Rick booked into the palace.

andrew honychurch 17-01-12 23:01

well boys, on that basis maybe , if I am invited, I should book the T16 in with you Shaun......I could always conduct a tug of war with any of you!! I will try to get it there if there is space Shaun?

shaun 17-01-12 23:11

That would good to have atug of war with a T16 - i will use the Comet !!!!!!!!!!
Should be enough room. make my show cheaper as i have to take less kit to fill the pitch. I dont think we have met Andrew, so i will good to finally meet. Will you need to share a tent with Richie ?

Richard, This must be you then, practicing for the Olympics! Attachment 46403 :D :D

We will also be at W&P with the Carrier.

Shaun, you might want to check with Nigel about the Carrier get together. Last show he intended to talk to Rex about getting support from the show for transport or maybe petrol compensation. Make it a huge record breaking attempt that would be interesting for the organizers to advertise. Invite former crew to come and see etc.

Cheers,

RichardT10829 17-01-12 23:49

Andrew i didnt mean it like that buddy... if it was all carriers including Loyd i think we could muster up a record or two !

Marc where did you find that picture of me ? if someone paid me to bring mine down that would be some incentive to get it done and running before June :)

Andrew you can sharew the tent with me... i dont bite very hard when i cuddle up...

andrew honychurch 18-01-12 10:25

no offence taken chaps. I still have to get it finished, currently waiting bits to come from the US of A and fabricators to get off their backsides. No doubt it will be ready by July, fingers crossed.

RichardT10829 18-01-12 11:48

at least yours is running !

How Many Carriers will line up this year?.

1 Attachment(s)
Gents, Can we get into double figures this year, only 9 weeks to go!.

shaun 03-06-12 22:13

If no one at MLU has a problem, i would like to get a sign made up for "The Carrier Forum" if we are to have a lot of carriers on the pitch from the forum. The pitch i have at the W&P show is very prominent and seeing as we are going to have a good show of carriers it would be good to promote the forum. Your views please !

Ben 03-06-12 22:34

I'll be there (no carrier) I think it's a good idea to get all the carriers in one place even if it's only for a photo. Shauns pitch makes sense as it's pretty central.

With any luck I'd like to have the cast bits ready to distribute by then.

Ben

Count me in !!

Gentlemen.
Good to hear your all revving to go. I'm doing A & E in June ( thats a hard weekend 22 mile drive) if all goes well at that then I will be there Friday, Sat & Sun.

Barry

(Just got back from Queens DJ Festival in Hyde Park, London. Having choreographed a musical drive with lots of ferrets. All went amazingly well.
Only got one rehearsal then two performances in front of 50,000 people )

shaun 04-06-12 11:01

Barry ,
Well done on the parade with the Ferrets. A&E will be a walk in the park for you. 22 miles is a mere trip to the pub in a carrier !
See you at W&P

Promoting Australia's largest military vehicle gatherig

Hopefully all the MLU people will drop by and see Richard Farrant who will be promoting Australias Largest gathering of military vehicles. Richard is now on our Khaki Vehicle Enthusiasts Committee. We are trying to encourage people from throughout the world to visit Corowa in March so we have designed a special edition KVE newsletter for Beltring. If you see Richard he will gladly give you a copy. He will have a few signs up with past promotion and will also have past Corowa DVD's for sale.

The largest gathering of vehicles was 266 in 2010 when our theme was Year of the Jeep. Each year we end up with a number of overseas guests and if you are interested in attending we would lke to hear from you. We can help advise you on details such as accomodation, places to visit, the program and any other questions you may have. Take a look at our website: www.corowaswim-in.org and read up on past reports and information related to our next event.

If you would like to be included on our database please send an email to: kveinc@optusnet.com.au

There will be a number of Aussies visiting Beltring and they are always impressed with the event and how welcoming everyone is. We would like to reciprocate. John Belfield who owned the Melbourne Tank Museum is looking forward to attending again this year. He had such a great time last year he couldn't wait to go back. He was our guest speaker at Corowa this year and it was facinating to hear about his interest in military vehicles and motor racing. You won't believe it but he turned 80 last year.

Apologies if this is getting off subject of the thread, but it is titled War & Peace show 2012.

As Jan has explained in the previous post, I am promoting the annual Corowa military vehicle gathering in Australia, at War & Peace show this year, we, the organisers of the event, have produced a special edition newsletter all about the event, reports from this year's one, photos of vehicles that have attended in recent years and tourist information, etc. Anyone who is planning on going to Australia for a holiday could consider including it in their itinerary.

I will be found in America Field during the W&P show, with Corowa display boards, beside my Bedford QL, if not around, please give me a ring on the mobile number displayed there and we can meet up for a chat about the event.

A photo of a few of the vehicles from this year's event.
