tactical paint colours
 

The familiar red, yellow, and blue markings found on turrets of ww2 vehicles - was there ever any official documentation for particular shades of paint for these, or was it simply sourced from civilian store fronts?

Also wondering about the markings on the vehicles at Dieppe, it seems the blue used was much lighter than was common. Again maybe just was at hand at the time, or specifically a requirement for the operation?
