Looking for the book, "Half Safe"
 

I'm looking for a book called "Half Safe", I don't know the author, it is about a bloke who drove an amphibious jeep across the atlantic.

Can anybody suggest where I might find a copy?

By Ben Carlin. 1955 and 1989

the first was about the first half of the trip - getting it across the Atlantic and up to London, and the second book covered all the way round the world with the thing if I remember correctly.

The vehicle survives in it's own building at an Austrailian school, (Guildford Grammar School ) and I believe the school was instrumental in getting the secold book published and benefits from the royalties.

There are about 40 copies of both issues up on the Advanced Book Exchange (ABE) at the minute....

I have a condensed version of the first book here somewhere, but since the cheapest one on ABE was £2 and something you can probably afford your own....

Thanks Gordon, I googled Guildford Grammar School and their website says copies are available. I'll give them a try. I didn't realise that the author was an Aussie.

Half Safe
 

The famous GPA itself was at Corowa a couple of years ago. While it won't be there this year, there will be other GPA's and DUKW's swimming in the Murray. Will we see you and Kevin there?
