The emblem inside the crest tells me it's the sign for a grenadier, but I stand to be corrected. Robert

How about a name!!
 
Always nice to provide your name if your looking for an answer to your question. The symbol is definitely that of a Grenadier. It has been used as a Regimental Crest for the Winnipeg Grenadiers and Regiments in the UK. Google "Badge Symbol WW1 Grenadier". All there.....Robert
