exploding shock's!!!!
frig this morning i replaced the rear shock on the ton truck and one of them exploded in my face, they pack quite a bit of oil and power! it riped the glove from my hand bounced on the ground and stoped about 20 foot from the truck! lucky my face was not in front of it, the nut holding the valve on the stem somehow came loose, this is why when i removed the bottom part it when't rocket on me , there was no way for me to know wath was about to happen, so if you shock become bouncy and show's no sign of leakage beware when you take it off, here are some picture to prove iam telling the truth!
this is where the bottom part stopped http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...er09-10231.jpg check out the mess of oil everywhere under the truck, if you look carefully behind the spare tire the top portion of the shock is still attached to the truck! http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...er09-10232.jpg here is the two parts of the shock together http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...er09-10233.jpg sure wish i had the receipt for that shock because this is a factory defect for sure! |

My guess is the nut came off, while in use.(thats why it wasn't working) Is it a gas shock? When you un bolted it, the pressure blew it apart.
You could not have known. I guess you wont go rusty for a while :D |
exactlty what i was thinking, and one side of my box wont rust as fast either
