Thanks Robert, glad you enjoyed it!

This year's has PLENTY of fun action - It may have been Year of the Jeep officially, but it was also Year of the breakdown with the more serious trouble occurring with Blitzes than Jeeps. It could also have been known as Year of the mud puddle with all the rain which fell at the beginning of the week. I didn't get there until Wednesday evening but Andrew McIntosh was there early with his camera and has kindly let me load his footage of the wet and how a Dodge Weapons Carrier can handle almost anything! :thup2:

Great event, terrific to catch up with some of my mates in SA, thank you to the organisers for all their hard work and effort.

Corowa

What a gr8 weekend I had. Thank you to the organizers I don't know how you do it so well with that many vehicles.
I found some bits at the swapmeet I have been looking for for ages, caught up with some MLU friends and even some long lost relations. Also checked out my favourite duck shooting spot for next weekend and the wineries on the way home. Does life get any better than that? Heres the link to some of my pictures. As you can see I was doing a survey of Chev rear view mounting positions.

Can anyone help with these requests?

Names of people who attended from overseas, where they live and their connection with military vehicles.

Information on breakdowns which occurred. There were some which occurred while on the way to Corowa, others occurred at Corowa and there are bound to be some breakdowns on the way home.

I am doing a report for some overseas magazines, newsletters etc and if you have anything else of interest please let me know. Feel free to post on the forum or send me an email. kveinc@optusnet.com.au

The thrill of Corowa

We arrived on the Tuesday with our dodge truck with the C15A on the tray and caravan behind - also one flat tyre. The time there was absolutely fantastic and enjoyed very much. A big thanks to all who helped organise the event. It is something to be very proud of.

Our trip home was eventfull. We needed a new tyre for the truck at Seymour and 9 kms out of Seymour the dodge backfired and stopped half way up a hill and on a corner (panic broke out) The battery died and then we swapped the battery from the blitz and thankfully the dodge started again. Thank heavens for the blitz!!! We arrived home at 7.30 after 530 kms from Corowa. Looking forard to next year. Today is a day of rest.

Great week, as expected. I felt a bit naked not having a vehicle there, but have decided to have the vickers light tank ready for next year as it does fit the theme. Thanks to all the organizers for their great effort.
Colin & Simone.

Great Event - Great People

Hi all

Just thought I'd let all who might want to know, I got home safely.

Then what would you expect from a Cab 12 that has a Ford V8 spinning like a top in it.

I'm understanding the old girl a lot better now and she is responding in kind. Even got the heel-toe on 4th to 3rd Down shift going.....gearbox & engine respond as smooth as silk.

Corowa is a very different event when you bring your own vehicle. Not to mention you feel like youve made a significant contribution to the richness of the event.

One hiccup on the way home - one of the Brass screws located at the front of the bowl in the Carbie came lose and fell out. You could tell instantly as the truck instantly smelt like a fuel tanker.

Oh dear..... this occured at Howlong......what a dreadful place to stop. A quick refit of the screw interrupted by a few Latte's under the big London Plane trees and I was off again.

No further incidents other than some fuel filters at Lockhart. Had a great yarn to the guys at Billabong Motors and a good coffee.

To all those I met and spoke to a Corowa..... a huge thankyou for your company & conversation. I just wish we could have a 6 month event in the middle.

Oh! and a few photos of course

Jan Thompson 17-03-10 03:03

Thanks for your report Tony. It looks like the event should be renamed "Year of the Breakdown". I enjoyed the ride on Thursday in your Blitz and after a few driving lessons with Keith Webb during the week you must have learnt a few things about gear changes. The photos Andrew McIntosh took of your Blitz in the mud holes look great. Do you have copies of these?

Ganmain Tony 17-03-10 03:11

Anything would be great

No Jan Ive havent got anything,

Andrew did say to leave my details with you. Im sure youve got them but I'll send you a PM.

Is it possible to get the sections he filmed as well, on a DVD perhaps??

Thanks for such a quick reply. Are you at work today???

Jan Thompson 17-03-10 03:15

I have started my newsletter report and would like a few people to give me reports on activities they attended during the event. Examples include, the trip to Chiltern, Lang Kidby's talk, Visit to the Aged Care facility on Wednesday, trip to Maurice Wilson's property on Thursday, the parade on Saturday, items purchased or found at the Swap Meet, Auction and Presentations etc. It is always good to incorporate different peoples perspectives on the event.

I have the vision Andrew shot of you in the puddle by the bridge, as well as the very muddy one by the river we visited on Wednesday.

Hi Jan,
I had another great weekend at Corowa. Unfortunately I didn't manage to get my jeep finished to bring it along but it will be ready for the next event.

I couldn't see this mentioned previously but looking through some of the photos of the event, there appears to be 4 GPA's at the lineup at the airport yet only 3 appear in your list. Was one missed out and does that make 181 jeeps in total?

Ian

Jan Thompson 19-03-10 04:35

Thanks Ian for picking this up. David Stafford from Qld must not have entered his GPA. After talking to a participant yesterday there was a Ford and Willys on the list and this person only attended with a Ford so I have done an update to the list.

Trailer for the 2010 DVD

I've just uploaded a short trailer for the Year of the Jeep to Vimeo - let me know what you think. I'd like to be able to produce the DVD before the event next year... but it always takes longer than I'd hope.

The way to do it is send an email to Dominique (at) imagecontrol dot com dot au (you know what to do with the dots and the at) and she'll send one. Payment is easiest done by credit card.
Happy to take orders from anywhere - the only thing is it's in PAL format not NTSC but should play on your computer anywhere. Almost all DVD players I've seen here as well as plasma and LCDs are PAL/NTSC so that should not be an issue for people in Canada and the US, but check your equipment first.

Done. Email has been sent.
