Marquis tent in Canada

1960s vintage canvas and wooden pole marquis tent in Ontario. The predecessor of the modular tent, and a lot less handy.

Handy one person man portable kit if ever I saw it, having erected the US version a few times recently . . . . and not enjoying it

Last one of those I put up, there were only two of us. Luckily we had a Jeep to bring the poles up. They are one heavy tent.

If that were close I'd probably snap it up. A GP Medium 16x32 (which that appears to be a Medium not Large) fetch 500-1000 USD for a tent and poles with US Reenactor groups.

I've put one up with just one other person. But really about 4-6 makes an easy job. More than 6 people and they just start tripping over each other and getting in the way.

border restrictions

For conversation, here are a few complications if a fellow in West Virginia wanted to make a trek for a marquis tent.

The province of Ontario is lifting its services limitations region by region, depending on the prevalence of the virus. Greater Toronto Area and Southwest Ontario are still behind the trend compared to other parts. So within the province there are no travel limits. But the federal government is keeping the international border closed and will be for several weeks. New York and Michigan share watery borders with Ontario, and apparently their virus rates are still high.

Terry,

Besides the pesky having to sneak across the border and smuggle a tent back bit the petrol consumed on the journey there and back would render moot any profit. I do travel up to Toronto/Brampton once a year for a model train show and some cross border picking if possible. But it has to be a multi-day affair with visiting friends and consuming lots of Timmies to make it worth the expense. Were I a New Yorker it might be different. But alas with the border and movement restrictions such as they are I think even then it would be moot.
