I was given this part of a Mortar case but cannot find anything about it. Ideally I would like to see a good photo of the nose, so I can arrange for a copy to be made from wood. Is this thing even one of 'ours'? |

I'm thinking M301A3
"Cartridge has a cylindrical body that contains an illuminating candle and parachute assembly. The round has a burst height of 600 meters and provides illumination for about 60 seconds for an area of about 1,200 meters. It is painted white with black markings. It uses the M185 propelling charge that consists of eight increments fitted into the spaces between the fins and held by a propellant holder. The increments are individually wrapped with waterproof bags that are not removed." dumped afew of them downrange.. (ahhhhhh........mortars......) |

Don't beat around the bush. Be more specific.

Thanks Charlie!
Charlie,
Thankyou very much for your information. Now I can start to clean the thing up a tad! I'm so glad it was 'one of ours'. It would have to go to a new home if it was the 'bad guys'. Tony |
