Aussie carrier ID please
1 Attachment(s)
I found this photo in the AWM data banks (neg. 027529). It shows 3 carriers on parade in Sydney.
Now the one at the right rear is a 2lb attack carrier but can someone tell me what the other two are and what they were used for? Thanks Cliff:salute: |
They are the 3in Mortar Carrier. The drivetrain is designed to the same layout as the 2pdr Carrier. 400 were made and not being to the Army's requirements, they were shipped to Nationalist China as war aid. None are believed to exist.

Thank you for that Tony.

There was a least 1 left in Australia in the 50s that ended up at Bandiana auctions. Ended its lfe as a makeshift crane in Corowa. Ref http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/sh...=&threadid=696
