Robbert,
Thanks for sharing a picture of the new "catch". Good to see the old girl back in Holland....even though it seems to be in a very sorry state, these days! @ Niels; I am sure Robbert and Lex can tell more about the truck. Alex |

Holland
10 minutes ago, I was talking to a Neerim South resident, 92 year old Harry, he is from from Valkenburg in Holland. He told me, in 1944 a SS panzer troop drove into his village and a young tank crew member came into their house and wanted some coffee!
The German said "we are going for a rest , to Arnhem ". |
???? Valkenburg was liberated in September by US troops , at the same time the airborne troops landed in Arnhem .
|
Hmmmm
Quote:
The German tanks were in Harry's town Valkenburg, two weeks before it was liberated . . He made his way to the UK and there, he joined the Dutch navy. There is a large wooden sign outside his driveway in Neerim South "VALKENBURG" I will take a picture tomorrow . |
