Historic Vehicle Association - 2010 Study
 

Hi All

I was doing some searching for information for our antique vehicle club and while searching the Historic Vehicle Association web site http://www.historicvehicle.org/ came across a study report entitled The Historic Vehicle Community in the United States and Canada http://www.historicvehicle.org/Resource ... pact1.ashx .

I remember getting a link to the survey the report was based on through Hagerty Insurance Company. In as our club is insured with Hagerty they made a special request that we respond to the survey, which I did as an individual then also provided club information.

Anyway I found the study report and though some people on this forum might be interested in. So the link again to the study is http://www.historicvehicle.org/Resource ... pact1.ashx

Read it and see how close their demographics fit you, or how we as a group falls into the demographics.

Some good argument points for laws and ordinances curtailing the hobby.

That fits myself and most of the other MV wombles I know down to a T.

I would say the average income is way off as far as what I'm making and I dont have $12,500 to spend on the hobby yearly!

The demographic profile pretty well pegs me!

One item of great concern to me is ethanol based fuel.

BTW, Phil, Hegarty here in Canada has some kind of association with Aviva, and Lant is the broker. Where else can I get full coverage on my 1971 Jeep with no usage restrictions for $121.00 per year?

Yep I would say the demo is pretty accurate..and agree with Robin..income range is a little out of my league.
Ethanol fuel is a problem (and a huge scam in terms of being "green") but one thing I noticed is the percentage who have historic antiques for "economic value"...while this would be the case for a small number of specialized businesses, can't see this being a factor for collectors..

I just cant see it as an investment... seems like much more money (and time) is spent cumulatively in restoration and maintenance than a restored example would sell for..
