Chev CMP vehicle serial numbers database

I have come across this website that has listings of an enormous number of CMP vehicle serial numbers from 1940 - 45. These numbers cover engine, chassis, build date, basically all you may need to discover the build date of your vehicle or engine. This is an invaluable source of detail information. These are the Canadian serial numbers that relate to the Chevrolet built vehicles.

You will have to scroll down the page till you get to the heading - Canadian Military Pattern Trucks 1940 - 1945. These listings cover all models from C8, C15, C15A, C30S, C60S, C60L, C-GT, Anti Tank Portee, C60X etc.

Interesting

A lot of the CMP detail looks like David Hayward's research, aided by others on MLU. He is the only one I have seen who puts commas in the engine numbers. I see some of us are even mentioned by name there.

I've had a look around and can't see David credited or mentioned and note he has put his own copyright notice on.

What other details do you have for your truck?

I see there are a lot of other WR392XXXX numbers on Australian C15s and C15As, notably a series of 1944 built WO8 with ARNs in the 142XXX range.

Build year

OK... going by the build year (and that of others) it would seem unlikely it is a 1940 engine.

So no ARN or WO number.

I do have details that my C15A was built @ 1944 and was assembled in Brisbane.

I am trying to identify the date of my engine as parts for the 1940 version 216 engines are different to later models, so I need to identify the exact build year.

I have found that the WR on the serial number indicates that the engine was made in 1940-43 and was a right hand drive vehicle, but I am after a more precise date.

Scott.

Dates

Yes, the production date is not included in the Army registration book.

Also whoever stamped 8444 for the WO number should have put the WO number, not chassis type code there.

Sydney and I think Brisbane assembled vehicles had the production date on the gearshift instruction plate rather than the data plate which is why it is often missing.

Mike Cecil did provide some details of the vehicle in one of the other threads, but wasn't able to provide any specific dates.

Scott.

Hi Scott, The 3 at the start of the chassis no. indicates 1943 build. My Sydney built C15A is also a 1943 one with an engine no. of WR 3924587.

Don't know if the site owner has read the comments on MLU, but David is now credited at the very bottom.
