Ford Motor Company of India "Army Service Training Course 1944"

Sold on Ebay earlier today: Ford Motors Jeep & military vehicle manual, India 1944 Item number: 260087805161 . Sadly I was too late to put in a bid :(

Anyway, I was wondering is the winner "reecetrooper" is known to the forum members. If so, I would like to get in touch with him and ask for a (digital) copy. Just because I'm interested in the contents of this manual. I'm mostly interested to learn if there is any reference to any of the "Indian Pattern" CMPs.

Thanks!
Hanno

Lauren Child was kind enough to tip me about a copy of this Army Service Training Course for sale on ebay - will share details when I get it.

Some pictures of the manual, with thanks again to Lauren for the heads-up!

It is training course material describing how to maintain the various Ford vehicles supplied to India. I have not gone over in in great detail but I suspect much is the same as in the maintenance manuals. Each section ends with a set of questions and answers, maybe to be used in some sort of exam.

A stamp on the inside of the front cover states that "This manual is supplied to personnel of His Majesty's Forces only after completion of a Ford Army Service Training Course".

An interesting page is this index page with "distinguishing features", listing, among other vehicles, the elusive C291QH, described as a "stripped C0011QF chassis 4x4" with 101-1/4" wheelbase

The C19QHF is listed too as "stripped C01QF chassis 4x4" with 134-1/4" wheelbase.

Interestingly, the C01QF-C29Q chassis is listed as both a 30-cwt and 3-ton 123-1/4" chassis with the only difference being 10.50-16 versus 10.50-20 tyres.

There are no references to any of the Indian Pattern bodies, sadly.

That FAT drawing is odd......a Monkey face body with a 13-ish front clip added!

Ah, for that you want to find a copy of the AMTS/RAMTS Questionnaire - it's a series of books full of questions on particular vehicle types, presumably for use at the end of courses.

:)
