R.I.P. Maureen Bell

Many of you would have known Maureen Bell. She has been actively involved in the military vehicle movement since meeting Brian Bell over 20 years ago.

She was the key organizer of Back To the Track in 1995 and has been of great assistance to the annual Corowa Swim-in since first attending many years ago.

She suffered from a major stroke on Wednesday morning followed by another stroke while in hospital and passed away on Friday just after 3pm.

At the moment we don’t have any details of the funeral. For those who would like to be informed of the funeral details please send me an email or phone either myself on 0412 078096 or John Oldenmenger on 0425 253253 on Tuesday. Please forward this information onto other people who may have known Maureen.

Thank you for letting us know, Jan. I didn't know Maureen directly of course, but she seemed like a good woman with lots of spirit! May flights of angels speed her on her way.

Very sorry to hear of Maureen's passing. She was a wonderful support to the hobby in general and to KVE in particular.

She will be sadly missed at future Corowa military vehicle gatherings.

I only knew Maureen for three years but will miss her at Corowa. It was easy to have a long yarn with her. RIP Maureen.

I was saddened to hear about Maureen. Having first met her when I took part in Back To The Track, she was a very friendly person and would help anyone. Our pathes crossed on a number of other occasions at Corowa and a Trackers reunion. It was very nice to have known Maureen, RIP.

I am still waiting for further details. There have been a number of shocked people on the phone in the past 24 hours. Please help to let people know. Unfortunately my data base doesn't include all the people who Maureen knew.

Thank you Maureen. R.I.P.

The President and Members of Khaki Vehicle Enthusiasts Inc. extend their sympathies to Maureens family.

Maureen was our Treasurer for many years resigning only this year and was always ready to help with the running of the Corowa Swim-In.

Maureen and Brian first came to Corowa many many years ago and she was always a fun loving person who fitted in well with the rest of us.

We will miss her but we will not forget her. Thank you Maureen.

On Monday 27th September there was a lovely farwell for Maureen. More than 150 people were there from most Australian states and also from overseas (thanks Henri).
Maureens final ride was in Les Bells 6X6 Dodge.
Many lovely things were said and a few laughs had as well.
The wake held at Maureens home was well attended and our thanks go to Rita for her hard work.

I have a few photos to post. Les Bell's Dodge has been used for a few of our NSW funerals. Maureen's Fire Jeep will still be seen at outings as she has left it to one of the AMVCS members. A number of military vehicles attended the funeral and the wake. The Blitz is belongs to Fred Reeves and recently did the trip to Alice Springs and return.
