MkIII carrier ??
 

I was intriqued by these photos of a carrier.
The raised engine deck, and revised air inlets would make me think it is a MkIII, but the info I have shows the MkIII has a boxed air outlet mounted on the outside of the rear hull plate.

MkIII were produced as AOP carriers according to my sources, but the front plate has the bulge and hinged cover, instead of the sliding shutter.

The front quarter valances are the same as fitted to a MkIII.

Anyone have more information on this particular carrier.

been away in the sandpit, what details were you referring to ?

These are the only photos I have and am sending with this, some info on the MkIII air inlet / outlet.

PM me again, it may have got tangled up in my spam filter, and I (stupidly) cleaned up a lot of my files last week.

I have some pictures of this specific carrier, which resides in Holland. I saw the carrier in Arnhem 2006 and recently in Groningen (operation Amherst).

Thanks again, superb photos.

So it is a MkII W (welded). I must admit I have not seen that engine cover layout before, though something similar on the MkIII.

I am truly humbled when I see the way the Dutch celebrate these occasions.
We do have a number of events here in the UK, but our "masters" would appear not to promote or remember the same way others do.

George when I bought my AOP No1 Mk3 W, it was a bare hull with much of the top cut off. I din't know much about the details of it.Most of the info I have came from that stowage plan and a small picture in the "Making Tracks" book. Thats why I'm so interested in what you know/have on them.
I dont believe they use an engine cover like the carrier shown in Alex's photos, but I'm a learner. I think the Mk3 draws all its air through the one big hole in the hull division plate.
What are you refering to when you talk about the "bulge" and the" hinged cover" and also the" front quarter valances".
