Hello All,

Here is the ad of our next summer ride on the Ontario side. We expect to make this ride the third week of July and we shall be at Ottawa for two nights. I will keep you in touch with this project.

Hello Bob,

Welcome aboard if you want to make this ride with us. We will enter in Ontario by North-Lancaster and quickly reach the Hwy 2 for Prescott the first evening. The next day, we will take the road for Ottawa through Merrickville and we'll make a stop to visit The Swords And Ploughshares Museum.

I'm working on the revision of this ride with Eric Booth. When we'll be in the Ottawa area, I'm looking the opportunity to sleep the first night at the Connaught Rifle Range West of Ottawa. As the fact that you're not far East of Ottawa and you're on our way back, we could go to sleep the second night in Hammond Barn. However, our problem is that we'll not have camp beds with us. In addition, is there a B&B not too far Hammond because two of our group are unable to sleep in hard conditions. (arthritic pains and not old Boy-Scouts as the majority of us... :yappy:)

Yes, -40C is hard on the "jewels". The term "Blue Balls" refers to the fact that the discomfort of the seats of our HMVs are hard for our family jewels :yappy: :yappy: :yappy:

It is this coming weekend .....SUNDAY ....HI NOON......that the BB Xpress will make a lunch stop at The Barn in Hammond...... duration about 2 hours.....


If you guys want to get a front seat look at the various vehicles you are all welcomed.......


Lunch will be served at High Noon at $6.00 each...... food for the convoy participants will be handled bulk..... anyone else cash on the barrell and have the proper change....

Serving BBQ pork fillet and chicken fillet on Burger buns.....cold drink...NO alcool.... unless you bring your own....


PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANY OF YOU COMING ARE INTERESTED IN HAVING SOME LUNCH AS I WILL BUY ACCORDINGLY......

Media Advisory: Canadian Forces Nijmegen Marchers Pay Their Respects at Vimy Ridge

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 17, 2010) - On July 18, 2010, a Canadian Forces (CF) contingent of 189 marchers on their way to the Netherlands for the 94th annual International Four Days Marches Nijmegen will stop in France to commemorate the sacrifice of more than 66,000 Canadian service personnel who died during the First World War.

The parade will be addressed by Brigadier-General J.C. Madower, the CF Contingent Commander.
When: July 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Central European Summer Time (5:00 a.m. EDT)

Where: Canadian National Vimy Memorial, Vimy, France

What: Canadian Forces contingent hold a memorial ceremony at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial on Vimy Ridge

The visit to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, the largest Canadian overseas war memorial, is sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion and is part of the CF contingent's Nijmegen itinerary. A wreath will be placed at the Memorial on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion.

On July 22, the third day of marching, the Canadian contingent will also pay their respects at the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, the final resting place of more than 2,300 Canadian soldiers and airmen who died fighting to liberate the Netherlands in 1944 and 1945.

During the Nijmegen Marches, CF marchers will cover 160 km through the Dutch countryside and crowded streets of towns in the Nijmegen area -- often walking the same terrain where many Canadians fought and died during the Second World War. Many CF members consider their visits to the memorials the most significant aspect of the Nijmegen experience.

Canadian military teams have taken part in the Nijmegen marches every year since 1952. The Nijmegen Marches are taking place this year from July 20 to 23.

What a great way to pass an afternoon! Bob and Joyce entertained, 'watered', and fed probably 40 people, including a 3-yr old boy and my 9-yr old. There was a wonderous lineup of vehicles in the back pasture as old as 1942 and as new as a 1980's (and that is just Bob's old rusty ones!). Seriously, a dozen rolling Jeeps, a CMP, Iltis' and a M135 "Deuce and a half" makes quite the sight. The conversation was story telling and experience sharing, knowledge exchange and that strange feeling of realizing, 'we all have the green disease'.

When I left, Bob was hosting the hard core at the world famous Hammond Barn. As one guy said, 'Oh look there is an attic'. Which got the reply, 'But it is only one storey'. The term, shed full of shit, came to mind as I looked upon the truly workmanlike assembly of tools, materials, parts, 'stuff' and the usual things found in a country back shed.

The convoy was going to be piloted into Ottawa by a local Ford GPW and an Iltis. The two route criteria being roads that would tolerate a 40mph slinky of 15-odd vehicles, and maximum exposure to the public. Their last halt was planned for the National War Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I advised the roadmaster that no one would complain if their convoy parked blocking traffic to dismount to pay their respects. One of the privileges of honouring the past is to be allowed to be present with the symbols of comemoration.

What a great day! Having a fairly large convoy of jeeps/ilitis with a CMP and a SMP pull thru the woods at Hammond was a real treat. Congrats to the Blue Balls Express (BBE) for their "drive" and determination. These folks have their act together!

Speaking of getting acts together, there was some rumblings about combining Bob's BBQ and a future BBE. Now that would be a sight to behold. We will see what Bob comes up with...

A tip of the Rotters hat goes out to the BBE and a hearty "bon voyage" for the rest of their trip.

Hello All,

The ride was fantastic. We had a problem however Sunday night so that the schedule for Monday had to be shortened. We had to go to Swords and Ploughshares Museum and is the heavy heart that we had to cancel our visit to Mike Calnan. Anyway we'll go there again... it's a promise.
