While the words are not "PC" these days, (alienating Quebec- with dauntless Wolfe) the CBC ran a contest years ago, and a very suitable replacement text won...
I always -and still do- think the melody is much more stirring than O Canada

Alas the actual Maple tree in Toronto was destroyed in the huge summer wind storm last year

Although we love the maple tree- it actually only grows in central and southern regions of eastern Canada.. perhaps we should have adopted the Black Spruce whose range is basically only in Canada, and the only tree which grows in all provinces and territories?

Yes, Marc. Let's not ruffle the feathers on the maple syrup producers south of Winnipeg. They were on the local news last month with Festival de Voyageur.
