WW2 White Halftrack and Scoutcar gauge decals
 

Hi all,

For all those who are restoring WW2 White Halftracks and Scoutcars, I have for sale a set of decals to aid in the restoration of the speedometer, cluster gauges and for the halftrack, the tachometer gauge.

The speedometer set includes a clear faceplate decal and a set of odometer/trip meter number decals. As part of restoring these speedometers you will usually need to replace or repaint the faceplate and the odometer/trip meter numbers. This faceplate decal has been printed on a clear background and has been made using artwork from the original speedometer faceplate.

For preparation, you first need to clean the faceplate surface and then paint it the aluminium type colour of the original. The decal can then be applied directly onto the faceplate. Once applied you will just need to cut the slot in the decal for the odometer and trip meter, and make a small pin-hole in the centre for the speedometer pointer.

The set of odometer number decals are printed in black font and red font on a white background which can be applied to your trip/odometer. These have also been made using artwork from the original.

For preparation, you will need to clean off all the existing paint on the trip meter and odometer. Ensure the surface is clean and dry and then apply the number strips. You may need to trim a very small amount off the end of the strip to make the ends meet correctly. There is no need to paint the odometer drums as the background on these decals is white like the original.

The cluster gauge set includes decals for each of the gauges: fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and ammeter. These decals have also been sized and produced to exactly match the four original gauges.

Many Halftrack and Scoutcar owners have working cluster gauges that just need the faceplate restored. This is a good low cost way to freshen up those working gauges. This is also a good option to allow you to use a gauge in your cluster that isn't original but can be adapted to work and look right with this correct decal applied.

These are a clear decal and in preparation for their application, you will need to clean up and paint the existing gauge faceplate to match the original aluminium colour. You can then apply these clear decals over the top of the painted surface and trim them to size. They are cut to the same shape as the originals but there will be some trimming required around the edges and in the opening where the gauge pointer is. I suggest you cut this opening in the decal where the pointer is before you remove the backing paper as the decal is sticky.

The decals for the White Halftrack Tachometer are matched to the same font and format of the original tachometer. Like the speedo faceplate decal, they are a clear decal. In preparation for its application you will need to paint the tachometer faceplate the aluminium colour of the original, and the same colour as the speedometer faceplate. Then you just apply the decal.

These decals are a good low cost alternative to painting. The result is a very professional looking finish.

Are these specific only to the White vehicles?

Hi Robin

The Diamond T and Autocar halftracks have the same gauges, so they will be suitable for them. However, the International halftracks have a different instrument panel and gauges so these won’t work on them.
