1 1/2" wheel cylinder cup expanders
G'Day All, does anyone have access to 1 1/2" brake cup expanders ( 2 needed ). I am working on a Ford rear axle assembly, and trying to match up the cylinders. no luck in West Aust so far.

Graeme you shouldn't need them. The cups would be made these days to function without them.
Over here I couldn't find the correct boots, so gave up and bought new cylinders from the states (quite cheap) |
Sorry for the delay in replying Lynn - the Federal Govt. are checking all messages in WA, on the lookout for Secession activity.
Now: after the Wife announced that she was going to leave unless I finished this project , I have decided not to follow your easy path - but to find the last 2 ( C91T 2217 ) cup expanders in the world ! |
I had a look for you as I have a bunch of the expanders but as luck would have it they are 1 3/8 in size :(

cups
I may have mentioned this before. The new imperial sized brake cylinder cups available here , are typically made in Spain . PBR got rid of their imperial dies years ago and PBR has not made the imperial cups for ages .
My neighbour has had lots of issues with a Dodge farm truck, the wheel cylinders leak , the new Spanish made cups eg 1 1/2" are narrow and flimsy . NOS PBR cups are the best if you can find them, they do turn up on EBAY . |
If my High School French stands up looks like I have the expanders for the rear cylinders and 1 3/8" expanders for the front cylinders coming from Saint Denis sur Richelieu, QC, Canada. .....

Last week the 'expanders' arrived safely, so a happy ending to this thread?
if my pics come through, I might pluck up the courage to start a new thread elsewhere ... G7s |
