C8 suspension link rod
1 Attachment(s)
I’ve discovered one of my link arms has rotted through. I’m struggling to find one! I’ve attached a photo - are these called link arms or link rods? I think the part number is 046379. All the ones I’ve seen for sale have u shaped sends either end. The ones on my c8 are straightrod to a u shaped link. Any ideas where I could source a pair?

No link to the vendor, nor have I any experience with them:

I've cut the ends off replaced
Hi Richard
I had a similar problem with my Patter 12 C60L, all the threaded ends broke off. Lacking replacement links, measured the rods cut off the damaged section and welded on grade 8 bolts. No problems in 2 years of driving. One of the reasons I went this route was my HUP has broken the original welds on the shock links one at a time over the years. Just ground off the old weld material and rewelded, never have had a new weld brake again. Keep us posted on your progress. Cheers Phil |
Richard,
Like Phil, I improvised, as I was unable to find direct replacements. I had new rods made up that I welded to the C-Shaped end. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...t=18464&page=5 The washers/retainers and Rubbers are available NOS at LWD parts. https://www.lwdparts.com/product/ret...hock-absorber/ https://www.lwdparts.com/product/gro...hock-absorber/ Jeep-Dodge-GMC in France offer something similar for the US Chev 1,5Ton.....but I am not sure if this is the same as C8 or if it can be modified to work. https://jeep-dodge-gmc.com/smi/descr...rolet/DP039373 Alex |

Here is a photo of mine after I restored them. They are off a standard civilian 1945 Chev truck (not CMP) and look the same, so they should be quite easy to obtain.

Many thanks everyone - that's all good news!
