F60L with patina

This F60L turned up at Cor-owa last week.
In civilian life the truck was used as a fuel delivery tanker up at Donald in the Mallee/Wimmera region, it was found and saved way back in 1973 and taken to Mildura. The workshop body is a recent fitment , a WW2 era body, modified ( widened and lengthened ?) for the army Inter trucks of the 1960s. A TROVE search has revealed a WHELAN at Donald who was a Shire councillor. A quick cleanup for the Cor-owa event included new water pumps and a radiator cleanout, a electric fuel pump and a permit. The truck had a slight hiccup during the street parade but all ended well, the modern fuel pump stopped but we made it to the showground swap meet ! Original 10-50 tyres with D/\D markings , at least one of the tyres is not round like normal tyres, it has flat spots , makes for a interesting ride. For those interested the data plate says: Date Jan. 43. Engine 3G28977F SM 2204 Chassis 48671 |
Very nice!
