Brake bleed nipples

I treated the unused Lockheed slave cylinders on my F60S to new bleed nipples (I do not have the old ones) but however hard I tighten them, they leak.
The nipples I bought are of the correct thread (seven sixteenths UNF) for these cylinders and have the pointed ends (90 degrees included angle).
Should I have bought the flat ended type and inserted ball bearings or are those that I bought the wrong included angle?
The witness mark on the one I have examined closely is a circular line.

Alastair,
I bought some new bleed screws for Lockheed cylinders once and they weeped. On investigation, although the thread was correct, the screw was slack in the cylinder, they were pattern parts. I searched around and eventually found new genuine Lockheed screws and it solved the problem, better fit in the cylinder. The witness mark could be fooling you as when tightening it could mark all the way around but not in fact create a seal.

regards, Richard

Hi Alistair,

Good to meet you yesterday. As I expected the bleed nipples on the Chev have a pointed end. Photo of those I fitted and managed to get good seal...these came from that reliable parts supplier...James Gosling!

Thanks

Thanks everyone. Yes mine were pattern parts. We now have a set from Past Parts and hopefully they will do the job.
