ADF Perentie auctions

Has anyone bought one of these land rovers at auction yet?
Are they good value and easy transactions?
I have a friend who is interested.

Hi Ryan

Yes mate I bought mine 3 months ago and I could not be happier. Much more comfortable than my 1942 MB Willys Jeep. Mine is a 1991 FFR 110 Perentie, with a 3.9 Isuzu Diesel engine, new tyres with 51,000 Klm on the clock and included all the army log books. However I miss my Jeep but I don't miss the uncomfortable ride for a guy of my stature.

Cheers

Are these still for sale?

Tony Smith 17-06-14 17:19

Yes, they've been having sales each month for the past 16 months, and there's still thousands of vehicles to go, but some of the specialised variants have already disappeared.

This month's sales end today (), but there will be more:

Sydney
Brisbane
Adelaide

Some of those 110 prices are very good, although I wonder if they skyrocket near the end.
Glad to hear your purchase worked out fine Tony. It seems Adelaide prices may be a little Cheaper than the east coast. Did you inspect before buying?
I wonder when Melbourne will have an auction?

Hi Ryan

I purchased mine from a guy in NSW who had purchased it at an auction in Sydney. The LR cost me 12.5K and was already registered in NSW. Which I was more than happy with. What a lot of prospective buyers don't realise is that near the end of the auction prices escalate, then there is the 6% commission to the agent plus 10% GST to the government which increases the cost dramatically for the buyer, then there is the transport department inspection hassle before the vehicle is passed for registration.

The vehicle I bought had been through all that which saved me a big head ache. I drove the vehicle back to South Australia and she purred like a kitten, if a diesel can sound like a kitten. I had a look at some of the LR on sale is SA they were 1988 - 1989 models with high mileage and pretty rough. They were not FFR models which I wanted being a Ham Radio operator. :thup2:

Cheers

So inspection is a must and don't forget to add the commission and GST.
It's good to read your positive story Tony, I think my mate will be pleased. We'll see what comes up at the next Melbourne auction.
It's hard not to get excited though when you see their current prices at just $4500 though.

Hi Ryan

I watched them on the auction site for a long time and saw them when they were showing a low price but you never get to see the final bid online. The average seem to go for around 9 to 10K plus commission and GST. I thought I did alright and saved a lot of head aches. I noticed a lot of car dealers are also buying them and then on selling them. If you get a good one with low mileage then you did a good deal as they go forever.

Cheers
