Gunners plate ? Is this the bit I have been asking about on here ? The fold down armour that sits over the firing slot ?

"Well got a call from machine shop engine is done... Shall have her built up during the course of next week, then just need to add some fuel and spark, and I can see if I have built a dud !
I finally managed to fit the steering bolt into the base of the column which was a relief ! The steel is ordered for the rod linkages, so it is all coming together now....

I am on the hunt for the armour flap that sits over the gunners aperture to copy if anyone is willing to let me borrow one for a couple of weeks ?

A pal of mine is up for a crack at making one for me.

Richie"

Put me third in queue mate

Lynn Eades 16-03-14 22:03

Rich, I knew someone was looking for one. If I was first in line, I can negotiate on your behalf.

RichardT10829 16-03-14 22:07

Hahahaha.... Mate it's first come first served, and you two were ahead in the game,

Still waiting for the pics though ?

The Original Plate is no longer for sale, but I have an exact copy in steel includes all fittings except the cast handle and two raised counter screws, the pivot bolt also requires the slot cutting.

This as you can see is exactly the same as an original and even has the typical 'chisel hammer' marks found on Canadian armour.

Not an easy item to replicate due to the thickness of metal and the closeness of the bends. The three others pictured are all originals for comparison.

Open to Offers.

If anybody else needs one of these I have a man getting some made for me . Apparently he can press and bend 10mm plate all day long with his press the size of a small house .
