216 How many 1939/45
 

I would like to make an information board for the engine pictured below so it can be entered in a military display .
I would like to know how many Stove bolts were made from 1939 to 1945 from 1) Canada 2) USA .

The USA data would include the 235 motor as fitted in Yankee Joe trucks

The engine in the picture is a 216 as fitted to Lend / Lease trucks that were sent to Australia 1944/45 for use with civilian essential services , this engine was manufactured in the USA and differs slightly from the Canadian 216 ie, flat top pistons , twin hole water pump .

I have the 1939-on Canadian engines data...they did not produce any 235 units in Canada. If you PM me with your e mail address I will attach the sheet and send it to you.

As regards US engine production, I am not sure that I have this information, but check my page for prefixes:

Thanks for your reply David and the website on engine numbers which I will find useful.

I have since found some data on the chev engines made in the USA in their war years .

56128 l/duty trucks ( pick ups )
205 293 medium duty trucks
65000 heavy duty trucks

There were 150000 yankee joe trucks produced which probably falls into the medium duty class being 1.5 tonne and was equipped with the 235 motor .
