The bowl of warm milk was a trap I set for stray bar pussy..You weren't into it ,were you..??
I'll have to watch y'all tonight..stay away from my trapline..

That sounds faintly suspicious... who else besides our stalwart band is coming into town?

That's why I offered, selflessly, I might add, to guard Stalker's Station.

See y'all in a bit, gotta go.

Thanks for stepping in, Clive. As Sgt at Arms responsible for the couth, decorum and deportment of Rotters, you add dignity to what will become a vulgar brawl...

Double wow! Pics will follow in due course. An outstanding ex. We were sixteen all-told; many new faces to put to names already known, and some completely new ones whom I hope will become a regular part of our community.

I'm at Clive's right now, will be crashing shortly and be back in Toronto tomorrow.

BTW, for those with the opportunity, Porter Air is outstanding.

PS: Gracie's Ladies are outstanding! :)

Most fantastic meet so far.....

With attendees from the big TO......Jiff himself.... Michele from Montreal and 17 others from everywhere in between..... including Uncle Bill from the Far East coast...... Gunner direct from Afrika and Roy a legitimate veteran from the big one.

.... not to mention the excellent slide show from Gunner.....we sort of took over the whole bar.....

Rub did a fantastic job of promoting this first gathering of the Ottawa Rotters...... absolutely fantastic.

What goes unmentioned is that none of this camaraderie and networking would exist without the MLU Forum and the excellent work done by Jiff Himself......... we have a rare opportunity to further the hobby and fraternize with fellow CMP nuts....

Pictures will follow.....

Bub

Pylon1357 24-01-07 06:46

Had a great time lads. Many thanks for the invite. I only wish I didn't have to bail out so early, maybe at the next meeting time will be on my side for a change.

Interesting evening for certain, I have to admit the hem lines were set right where I like em.

Alex Blair (RIP) 24-01-07 13:07

Gracies Thrash.....

Was glad to see old friends at Gracies and meet the new lads from MLU,Home of the Brave...
Wild Bill and I got there about 4:30 and had a drink and was checking around the bar and spotted the Ozzie chapeau and low and behold if Jif wasn't sitting quietly by himself,at a table for 10...having gotten there at 4....Hard to get ahead of Jif ,so we gathered up our drinks and joined up..
What a great time..
The program was mentioned by BooBee and Rub wasnt even acting up ..Gunnar finally wet down the New crowns...and put on a marvelous slide show of trucks on his travels..and a zebra striped whorehouse somewhere in Darkest Africa..
Not that he would sample the wares ..so he says..but cool none the less..
With all the lads that showed up last night ,including Don Dingwall that we don't see enough of,because of work commitments ,I was glad to hear that Don's wife has recovered nicely and that is a great thing..
Clive ,as usual had a ton of new "Show and tell" books in the mill, and let me tell you....you'll get in line to get the latest Clive Law offerings..
A must have for any Truck nut and a new book on the complete military motorcycle book..
Every one of us needs a copy of each..
Anyway there are pix to follow and I can see our Eastern Ontario-Western Quebec 2 annual BooBees Burgers and Beer Bash in August bigger and better than ever..:remember :drunk: :support

Thank you for the kudos, Boobee, but mention also has to be made of Hanno and Karmen in this regard. They are both integral to the running of this site - I really don't know what I'd do without them! This really IS a "team effort".

:salute:

Now the rest of you, start uploading your photos of one of the most memorable events I've attended!

Ok, so my last missive was short on details. I'll try to add some info about the event here, since I didn't bring my camera (thankfully, there were others that had the foresight to do so).

It was a great opportunity to "put names to faces" as Geoff mentioned, to network, to swap BS and to enjoy the company of similarly afflicted rusty old truckers. Contacts were made for services and products. You need glass cut for your windscreen, or the gasket material to set the glass in place? You need canvas items made up for your seats etc? You need to swap parts? Do you need someone to do some wood work or welding? Or, do you just want to sit down and listen in to a bunch of crazy coots with wild imaginations? The Rotters meeting is the place to do this and so much more.

Mike (AKA Gunner) put on a great slideshow of S&P museum activities and his adventures in Africa – including a shot of his twin…Clive circulated drafts of his new books to rave reviews. Bill regaled us with stories of conquest and glory in Burton. Our Iltis brethren were out in good numbers and were able to identify every Iltis in Mike’s slideshow!

Special thanks go out to the girls at Gracies. In particular, I would like to thank Jessie for her service that went beyond the call of duty (it must be difficult moving in that mini-skirt and those truly seductive high heeled boots…). The Rotters acquitted themselves in the usual manner, with one exception (photos will be posted later) where a visiting dignitary bribed three lovelies to pose with him – a bad precedent, as in the past the girls used to pose for free…

In summary, it was a good bash and it established our new attendance record. Thanks to all who attended. Watch this forum for future developments including Wild Bill’s retirement activities (I won’t mentioned how many decades he has served, but suffice it to say, that as a recruit, when ordered “From the right. Number!” his front rank replied: I, II, III, IV…).

I did NOT... CLIVE did! Not complaining here, though, although I confess there was some confusion as to where to put my hands...
